Birthday Luncheon:Take One

For my birthday this year I wanted to accomplish some of the Pins I've been Pinning over the years. So many fabulous ideas and foods to make. My mom totally helped me out by making me a lunch from pins from my Yummer board.

From Chef Mommy: Pork Tenderloin with Pan sauce. The pork was tender, moist and tasty. The accompanying sauce added even more flavor.  All of us agreed that this recipe was a keeper.

From The Virtuous Wife: Garlic Parmesan Pull-Apart Bread.  I love bread and I could have eaten this whole bowl. These are easy to make and quite good.  My brother snagged all the left-overs, that's how good they are.

For dessert, my mom deviated and didn't do a pin from my board but a recipe she saw on Pinterest. Orange Dreamsicle cake.  This cake was delicious. I took 3 pieces home and they didn't last long.

Luncheon Take One was delicious. I'm looking forward to Luncheon Take Two now.

Happy Earth Day!

Same work out. Two States

The Pinterest mini birthday projects continue. Remember, I celebrate ALL. Month. Long :) And you should too during your birth-month. I highly recommend it.

A friend of mine recently moved to Barrows, Alaska. This made it a little hard to bake, cook or do a project together for my birth-month. This didn't stop us from celebrating though. My friend picked a work out from my fitness board and a day during the month. On that day we both did this work out:

The link doesn't  seem to be working but I'll add it here just in case it seems to work for you.  http://gonnagiveallmysecretsaway.tumblr.com/page/6

We posted about our work outs on each others Facebook pages and as soon as she gets back from Anchorage, we're going to plan another work out day together.

Thanks Dawn for celebrating my birthday with me, even though you're 2,102 (3,383 kilometers) away.

Birthday Time!

It's my BIRTHDAY! On Saturday :)

Unlike others I know, eh hem, my man, I love it when my birthday comes around.  I embrace it. It's a great time to connect with family and friends. You all know I'm not having a big party this year (click here).

If I was I'd go Vegas style this year.

I bet my friends are wishing I threw a party this year, ha ha

Stay tuned all month for more Pinterest birthday party projects.

Birthday Projects

April's my birth-month. Normally I throw myself a party. 2011 was an ice-cream party. I see I haven't blogged about it. I must be sure to do that this month. Last year was Breakfast at Tiffany's. One of my most popular posts. That was a fun party.

This year I'm not throwing myself a party. WHAT? I know, a lot of my friends were surprised too.  Don't worry, just because I'm not throwing a party doesn't mean I'm not celebrating.  I'm having mini Pinterest parties. I'm getting together with friends and family and making, cooking or baking pins from my Pinterest boards.

The first pin I completed was from my Cupcake board, Twix cupcakes .  Everyone whose tasted these loves them.  The cookie crunch adds texture and surprise. If you like caramel you'll love the frosting, it blends beautifully with the chocolate cake.

I'm looking forward to completing more pins and adding them to my Pinterest Made Me Do It board.  Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go eat another a Twix cupcake.

Woo Hoo!! Wednesday

This Woo Hoo!! Wednesday is a special one for me. My family celebrated Easter the Saturday before so that all 45 could get together.  That's Aunts, uncles, cousins and  my cousins kids. I come from a large family and I love it.  Most of us live in Oregon but there's a few in Washington and Wisconsin and they were able to make it this year, Woo Hoo!!

Since there were so many of us this year we rented a place.  My aunt did a great job of springing up the place with bright table clothes and a simple center piece.

My mom Easter'd up the wood stove .

We all contributed with food. My mom getting into the Easter spirit and making colourful deviled eggs. How fun do those look laying on a bed of green coconut grass.

No family get together would be complete without dessert!

I made, what else...Cupcakes! I loved the look of the tie dye cupcakes and the easiness of the recipe on Delightfully Dowling.
I changed up the frosting though and used chocolate marshmallow Duncan Hines Frosting Creations and topped them with Cadbury Mini Eggs .

This was truly a Woo Hoo!! Easter for my family.

Circus Animals and Moving Sales

 Circus Animal Cookie Cupcakes

When ever my friends have moving or garage sales I make cupcakes to entice our friends to stop by and peruse the wares for sale.  This time I made Circus Animal Cookie Cupcakes. A recipe I found from a fun little blog called The Baking Robot .

I chose these cupcakes because I already had everything on hand, except the cookies.
If you look closely you can see my man's army action figure making sure I make these right. Or is he looking to snitch a taste while my back is turned?

The cupcakes were suppose to have a sugar cookie taste and the frosting was suppose to be like white fudge.

Now maybe I've just been baking too many cupcakes lately but I thought these were just so-so.  The cake was a little bland and the frosting didn't taste very fudgey.  However, a few moving sale patrons whom my friend and I didn't know said they were very good. In fact, some asked for seconds.

I had the cupcakes siting up on the porch in case our friends came by.  A few people who came by to peruse the sale saw them and asked how much they were.  I didn't charge them and just gave them to anyone who asked.
