50th Birthday Party

50 Years Loved 50th Birthday Party

This weekend my friend turned 50 and threw a great party. She hosted the event at the Hilton  in Vancouver, Washington.  The Christmas tree in the event room fit the party perfectly.  All the lights glowing from it, it made the perfect photo prop. Lots of selfies were taken in front of this tree. Me included. And it was the perfect spot to place the birthday gifts.

The theme of the party was my friends favorite color, blue, and the saying '50 years loved'.  The theme fit my friend perfectly. The room was full of so many friends from near and far.  Truly, 50 years loved.

I'm not a big fan of blue but I loved it here at my friends birthday party.  The touches of silver, cream and candle light gave her party such a warm touch and really reflected my friend. She did a great job of styling her own party.  I was more than happy to be a sounding board for her as she planned her own party.  Helping her make decisions and listening to ideas.

I ran 3 miles the morning of the party because I was looking forward to this cake.  Inside was blue velvet cake. So pretty and a fun surprise.  Like many people do at their wedding's, my friend served sheet cake to the guests instead of every one having to wait for this cake to be cut.

Fifty and fabulous birthday cake

The candle light on the table was so pretty. The lights in the room were down low to high-light the full effect of the candle lights glow.

I feel like I should do one of those puzzles, how many G's do you see in this post.  Would you have noticed the G's if I wouldn't have said that?  My friends name starts with a G, obviously. I like how she incorporated them into the décor so that they blended in.  I totally had a few of those macarons too.

Birthday party celebration

Each table had a vase of roses, candles, tasty Hershey's Kisses in her party themed colors and birthday necklaces in her party colors.

This was a fun idea. My friend had a Wish Jar for all her guests to leave her a birthday wish.  I can imagine her sitting on her comfy couch with a fire roaring in the fire place, a nice glass of wine and reading each wish left by her friends.

If you have a milestone birthday coming up what theme would you chose? I'd love to hear it.

August Recap

August Recap- Enjoying Summer

Was anyone else's August busy?  When I looked back at my August it was packed full of fun.  No wonder the month just flew!

I kicked off August with the re-opening of my etsy shop.   I closed it for the month of July so I could do a little revamping of the shop, glittering up a lot of new items and creating a lot of tulle poms in a variety of colours. I love creating items for peoples parties.

The first weekend in August saw a visit from family who live out of state. It was great to spend time with family and celebrate my cousins birthday.   I feel so blessed to have a large family.  There was 16 of us at dinner.  That's just my parent's, aunts and uncles and cousins.

The birthday dinner was followed by a weekend of goal setting with three local bloggers.  This was a BIG goal setting session.  We weren't talking about how we were going to grow our social media numbers.  We were talking the BIG goals that would take our businesses farther.  Of course I had to set up a little party table.  We had no idea after this session that we'd end up collaborating on a workshop together.  More to come on that later.

Pineapple cocktail outdoor bar.

The next week was the Portland Street of Dreams.  I love touring these houses with an eye on the party spaces.  I wouldn't want a house as big as the ones at Street of Dreams but I do get ideas for how to improve our little house. This year we're re-doing the front yard. It needs it bad.  My man says it's like four-wheeling with the lawn mower.  There's so much moss and lumpiness and just all around too much grass.

Portland Street of Dreams

An exciting event in August was the solar eclipse.   Of course I had to throw a little celebration.  It's not every year that the solar eclipse happens.  What an exciting event.  My man wasn't excited about it and just worked right through it.  I of course stopped what I was doing and watched the eclipse happen with a couple of friends. They say opposites attract right 😉

Eclipse party

At the end of the month I had a great phone chat with Christa Graham Wedding & Events.  I met her in a Facebook group and me being the extrovert I am, as soon as I found out she was a wedding planner I reached out and said, hey, we should chat sometime.  We ended up having a great conversation and bounced a lot of ideas off each other.  Stay tuned for those ideas to come to life later this year and into the next.

Phew! August was a busy fun filled month.  How was your August?

Smirk Photobooth Co's Birthday Party

Smirk Photobooth Co's Birthday at Opal 28

Last week I attended Smirk Photo Booth Co's first business birthday at Opal 28 in Portland, Oregon.  The first time I met Skylor was at an event at Opal 28.  Her photo booth was so fun and she has so much energy, like me. So of course when her business hit one and she threw a party, I had to attend.

Beautiful chalk work by HeyHalle.  I haven't met her yet but you all know I'd like too.   I always like meeting fellow creatives, especially local ones.  I like to have go-to people I know for my parties and events.

Who can resist a cheese spread. I seriously need to host a wine and cheese party some day.

Delicious vegan meals were made by Hays Kitchen for Smirk Photobooth Co's birthday party.  Although I'm not a vegan and don't like veggies, I'm like a kid when it comes to veggies, seriously, the food did look really good.   As you can see, the guests enjoyed the food.

Now THIS is what I'm talking about. Dessert.  Britters Bakery made this yumminess.   I was bummed I missed them at the event. I always enjoy meeting bakers.  My parties always need treats 😊 The mini cupcakes were melt in your mouth yummy and those gummy bears! Oh my gosh. I had to make sure to stay far away after I had a few.  I could have eaten the whole bowl.

Opal 28 Birthday Bash

Opal 28 Birthday Bash. Get birthday party inspiration on FizzyParty.com

Opal 28 just celebrated their 3rd birthday with a BASH!  I had to attend because Opal 28 is where I held my first event, #FizzyPartyTropFest  . I love this space.  The rooms are just the right size and the outdoor patio space is perfect.

That brie has my name written all over it ;)  My friend got a hold of the olives and said they were really good.  Platters of cheese, olives, crackers and bread are easy to put together for parties.  No cooking and less stressful then trying out a new recipe.  Leaving you more time to enjoy your party.
Appetizer ideas for your next party can be found over at FizzyParty.com

My friend and I didn't know what kind of cheese that was in the front of the picture there with the sauce over it but it was good.  Putting together a platter of appetizers like this is a great way to try a lot of new cheeses.  Pair a platter like this with wine, add some friends and you have a great afternoon of fun.

Desserts at Opal 28's birthday bash were made by Lux Sucre Desserts.   I knew the desserts were not only going to look good but taste delish.  How did I know?  Because Lux Sucre Desserts made the desserts for #FizzyPartyTropFest

Sparkly cake pops in purple to match Opal 28's colours.  When my friend and I arrived at the event I went straight for the cake pops. Tasty and moist, just like cake pops are suppose to be.  I refrained and only had one.  I could have easily eaten 2 or 3 ;)

These happy birthday cookies had the perfect amount of shimmer and sparkle to them.  These cookies were perfectly baked and tasted really good.  I was tempted to load my purse up with them.

This cake looked amazing.  My friend and I didn't stay long enough to try a slice but I know it tasted good because I've had Lux Sucre Desserts cake before.

In the back room of Opal 28 Smirk PhotoBooth Co set up.  Of course I jumped right in to get my pictures taken.  Pop over to my Instagram to see my pics.  I loved the sparkly shimmery backdrop choice, the fact that the space was big enough for a whole group of people and you get your pictures right then.

Smirk PhotoBooth Co had a lot of great props to choose from.  My friend, who rarely does photo ops even jumped in and did it.   I think it was because of the great photo props and the fact that you get your pics right then.  The owner, Skylor is super nice and fun too. She makes you feel at ease and gets you to have fun in front of the camera.  Check out all the party fun from the event here.

No event or party is complete without some swag.  When throwing a party you don't have to break the bank when it comes to swag bags.  Little items like stickers, candy and other small items make great swag bag items.

Beer Birthday Party

A few weekends ago I got to attend a party. A change for me because I'm usually the one hosting them. This party was thrown by B. Lovely Events  who happens to live down the street from me.

The party was for her husband's birthday and she had a great theme for it, Dirty Thirty Beer Party. So many parties are catered toward feminine themes so it was refreshing to see such a fun masculine party.  All the male guests really loved this party. I heard so many compliments from the men about this party. Who says men don't appreciate parties and all the details of a party theme.

You can't have a beer party without bar snacks of pretzels, popcorn and peanuts.

Chips and pretzels go great with beer.

Industrial details like the backdrop and rusted letters give the party the deep masculine feel.

Does this dessert table say manly or what?  All the treats on the dessert table had beer cooked in them, soaked in them or drizzled on them.

You've heard of tiramisu, well this is beeramisu.

I HAD to try some of these chocolate covered marshmallows with pretzel bits, mmmm. B. Lovely Events did a great job in making these. So good.  I sampled a mini donut too made by Green Mountain Mini Baked.  Delicious! I'll be ordering some for my parties.

Road Trip Birthday Party

Every year I throw myself a birthday party.  Sometimes they're big and sometimes they're small and they always have a theme, of sorts. One year I did an ice cream party. I really need to get that one posted on here.  One of the most popular and fun was the Breakfast at Tiffany's party.  This year the theme was Road Trip.  I love road trips. I'd prefer to drive to my vacation destination than fly.  You get to see so much when you're on the road.

My guests were greeted by a banner and the classic air freshner tree's.  I'm not sure how people can stand to have those in their car.  The scent is so strong. I could smell them through the door.

I created the backdrop using a map and photo's of vacations I've been on.  I also marked places on the map that I had been.

Stopping for donuts is common on road trips.  You won't find these mini donuts in any shop on the road. They were made by EZ Favor Lollipop Shop.

Since the air freshner tree's have such a strong scent I didn't want to use them for the garland on the table.  Swishprintables did a great job of creating the air freshners in print.

I treated myself this year to a bakery cake.  Devils food cake layered with chocolate ganche and raspberry buttercream and iced in raspberry buttercream.

4 Kids Cakes created road signs to add some fun to the cake. I love how she distressed them so they look like they've been on the side of the road for years.
