Thanksgiving Day Dessert

Thanksgiving Day Desserts

**Products given to me by Oriental Trading in exchange for styling a party. I work with them because I've been buying from them for years!**

When I think of Thanksgiving dessert I think pie.  Pumpkin pie and berry pie, mmm mmm.  This year why not change it up and serve up easy desserts like cupcakes, cookies and more. This works especially well if you're hosting a last minute Friendsgiving.  Save yourself time and pick up some goodies at a great local bakery.

Chocolate chip cookies. Who doesn't love those? Me. I don't like chocolate chip cookies. Never have. But I'm just weird like that. People always give me the, "I did not just hear you say you don't like chocolate chip cookies" look.  But hey, more cookies for everyone else.

I don't know about your house but football is always on on Thanksgiving and popcorn goes great with watching the game. Especially when it's kettle corn.

Now this is what I'm talking about. Cupcakes. That smooth frosting is calling my name.  To make your cupcakes more festive you can cut out craft paper to use as cupcake wrappers.

Whether you celebrate Thanksgiving or Friendsgiving save yourself some stress and ask your family or friends to bring some dessert or pick it up at a local bakery. The day should be about enjoying time with family and friends, not stress.

Galentine's Day Brunch

Galentine's Day Brunch

If you're a morning person like me, brunch is great for a Galentine's Day Celebration.   I usually start the party at 11:30 a.m.   When my friend showed up at the party this year she said, I am so glad you have your parties at 11:30 a.m., I get to sleep in, come over and spend a great time with friends and still have time to get errands done or attend an evening event.  YAY! comments like that make a host feel pretty darn good.

This year's theme was XOXO.  I saw this gold XOXO at Hobby Lobby and the party started forming in my head.  Pink and gold are the main colours with touches of red.  I'm loving the pink with the gold. How about you?

I love serving brunch for a few reasons.

  1. People love breakfast foods.
  2.  The food is easy to prepare.
  3. Breakfast foods are my favorite foods. And I'm a picky eater.
Oh how I love croissants.  So I pick up mini ones from the store.   I could try and make them but it's just so much easier to pick up at a store or local bakery.
Serve up mini croissants at your Galentine's Day brunch. See more menu ideas for brunch at www.fizzyparty.com

I may not make the croissants but I do make the strawberry scones.   I make them into heart shapes by cutting out the scones with a heart shaped cookie cutter.  The heart shape of these turned out WAY better then the last time I made them into heart shapes.   I use Baker by Nature's recipe.   When you make the dough the scent of lemon from the zest smells so fresh and you get a hint of that taste in each bite. My friends like these scones so much they're always happy to take some home.
Your guests will be asking to take some of these strawberry scones home.

Along with the mini croissants and scones, I also made a crustless quiche and served fresh fruit.  It's not berry season in February in Oregon so I wasn't sure how these would taste but oh my my.  These berries were bursting with flavor.
Fresh fruit is a welcome addition to your Galentine's Day brunch table. For other brunch menu ideas go to www.FizzyParty.com

You didn't think I was not going to have dessert did you?  No party of mine is complete without dessert.  These Jelly Belly Valentine Jewel Mix didn't last long.  In fact as soon as my friend saw them she grabbed a handful.  Dessert before brunch?  I'm down with that.  This mix is sooo tasty. The combination of bubble gum, cream soda and very cherry is, well, it's hard to stop eating them, that's what it is.

Classic vanilla cupcakes got Valentine'd up with gold flecked heart toppers from Wilton and Candyfetti from Sweets Indeed.  Why am I telling you where I got everything from?  In case you want it for your party you'll know where to get it.

Halloween Outdoor Dinner Party Desserts

Halloween Desserts

Once October hits everyone's calendars start filling up fast with pumpkin patch dates, cider parties and Halloween parties.  So get on your friends calendar's early and have them over for Halloween dessert outside.  By hosting it early in October not only will you have a good turn out but it's still warm enough outside to eat outside as long as you dress in layers.  This dessert party was inspired by Oriental Trading's party staples.

Keep the decor to a minimum and let the outdoors be the main decor.

Add details like stickers and ribbon to boring popcorn boxes

Elevate your cupcakes by using cupcake pedestals .  They add a nice touch of colour to your table.

I love using Jelly Belly jelly beans  in my dessert decor.  Not only do they add some colour and texture to the trays and compliment the desserts that sit on top of them. But my friends love to grab a handful as they take a popcorn box or cupcake.  No one can resist the lure of the Jelly Belly jelly bean.

Dessert Bar- Fizzy Party Trop Fest

Welcome back. Did you miss the crafting part of the evening?  If so, pop over here.
End of July I took a leap and hosted my first craft night out at Opal 28.  The attendees and I painted trinket dishes using paints by Plaid Craft.

All that crafting at Fizzy Party Trop Fest can make one hungry so lets get on over to the dessert bar and load up our plates.

First stop, the bar for a drink. We're going to need something to wash down all those tasty treats.  Being a tropical themed party your drink would just be boring if you didn't dress it up.  Dressing up a drink doesn't have to be expensive.  Flamingo straws and palm tree stirrers from Oriental Trading are inexpensive and add a lot of fun to drinks.

Flamingo down! Cut him off.
This is one of my favorite dessert bars!  Why do I have to make something look so good because now the pressures on to top it.  ha ha!  All that colour just POPs and draws you in.  One of my favorite features of the dessert bar is the gold fringy curtain from Shindigz. Inexpensive but lots of eye appeal.  The SWEETS paper mache letters from Darice started out as plain brown boring letters.  In one short afternoon I took them from boring to tropical.

Let's dish up.  Thank goodness for Instagram because when I saw  Pink Poppy Party Shoppe  post these napkins I knew they were perfect for the event.  Love when that happens.  And I had so many attendees ask me about these great plates from Create Ur Plate.  Small Moments  created the graphics for me.  The great thing about these plates is that you can peel off the graphic underneath and save it for the next party.

So, I might have gone a little overboard on the dessert bar ;)  I have quite the sweet tooth after all.  Lux Sucre  who I met a few years ago at a wedding show  made all the delicious baked goods.

As much as I love baked goods I'm all over the sugary treats.  Jelly Belly jelly beans have got to be at the top of my candy weakness list.  I can't tell you how many scoops of jelly beans I ate that night.
I should have saved one of the pineapple candy kabobs from Sweets Indeed  because they went fast! Marquee Design PDX was all excited about them.  I think she's my candy sister soul mate.

If you're into gourmet popcorn you would have ignored the dessert table and headed straight to the big bowl of  Poplandia Popcorn  . Coconut on one side and NW raspberry on the other.  The honeycomb balls from Shindigz complimented the popcorn perfectly.

None of the attendees could resist these stinkin cute pineapple shaped strawberry filled macarons that Delectable Baked Goods  created for the event.  I pushed her macaron skills by asking her to create pineapple shaped macarons.  I'd say she gets an A+

Strawberry meringue's dipped in chocolate and dressed in pink sprinkles.

Rock candy is so fun, comes in so many great colours and just says, PARTY!!!

I don't know about you but I'm stuffed.

Galentine's Day Brunch Desserts

Welcome back. Ready for dessert?
Be sure to go back and see the entrance and brunch

Creating Awesomenessity created these great cookies for the Galentine's brunch desserts. The wood grain effect looks so real you almost think they're not cookies.

I had plans to make my own doughnuts but I had made a quiche and strawberry scones so I zipped down to Kripsy Kreme and bought these fun doughnuts. No reason to stress yourself out or stay up late making something for your party. Parties are suppose to be fun for those attending and for those hosting.  Not stressful.

I am not a fan of chocolate but Lindt truffles are so good that my taste buds make an exception. These white chocolate strawberry  cream filled ones were perfect for the party.
Galentine's Day brunch chocolates

I treated my friends to Maggie Louise Confections dark chocolates filled with vanilla bean ganache. There was not a piece left.

My guests don't leave my parties without a favor and this Galentine's party was no exception.

Olive oil, brown sugar sugar scrub scented with tangerine essential oil went home with each guest. I love homemade sugar scrubs because they smell good and make your skin so soft.

After brunch and dessert my guests and I had a fun time taking pics against the balloon photo backdrop I created.  Bonus post on Saturday with more fun pics of my guests and I having fun, fun FUN!

Woo Hoo!! Wednesday

This Woo Hoo!! Wednesday is a special one for me. My family celebrated Easter the Saturday before so that all 45 could get together.  That's Aunts, uncles, cousins and  my cousins kids. I come from a large family and I love it.  Most of us live in Oregon but there's a few in Washington and Wisconsin and they were able to make it this year, Woo Hoo!!

Since there were so many of us this year we rented a place.  My aunt did a great job of springing up the place with bright table clothes and a simple center piece.

My mom Easter'd up the wood stove .

We all contributed with food. My mom getting into the Easter spirit and making colourful deviled eggs. How fun do those look laying on a bed of green coconut grass.

No family get together would be complete without dessert!

I made, what else...Cupcakes! I loved the look of the tie dye cupcakes and the easiness of the recipe on Delightfully Dowling.
I changed up the frosting though and used chocolate marshmallow Duncan Hines Frosting Creations and topped them with Cadbury Mini Eggs .

This was truly a Woo Hoo!! Easter for my family.
