Bakery Review- Depoe Baykery

Bakery Review - Depoe Baykery
Depoe Bay, Oregon

Depoe Bay, Oregon. Oregon coast

We finally stopped at Depoe Baykery  in Depoe Bay, Oregon. I've been meaning to stop here for years but every time we go by it's after hours.  This time when we drove by they were open. Woo! And they were buuuusy.  The parking lot was full and there was a line almost out the door. We must have hit the morning rush.  Everyone seemed to know what they wanted though so the line went quick.

I picked the Marionberry filled donut to try.  I'm not a big donut girl, I'm more of a cupcake girl. But there were no cupcakes. Boo hoo 😢

The donut had a nice light glaze, wasn't greasy and felt light and fluffy.

The donut had a generous amount of filling and wasn't too sweet. The donut was light and fluffy and didn't sit in your gut like some filled donuts can.

I also tried the Oregon Joy cookie.  This was a chocolate coconut macaroon.  I didn't like the chocolate.  If you've been following me for awhile this won't be a surprise to you because you know I'm not a big fan of chocolate.  If you like chocolate you'll probably like it. The coconut part was moist and perfectly coconutty.

I'll definitely stop in again when I go to Depoe Bay.  The eclairs looked good and I'd like to try the coconut macaroon without the chocolate.

If you're a donut lover this bakery is worth a stop.

Delectable Baked Goods Bakery Shop

Delectable Baked Goods Bake Shop

I'm SO excited!!!  My friend Delectable Baked Goods just opened her bake shop in Beaverton, Oregon.  Excuse the fuzzyish pictures. I don't know what happened with my camera.

As soon as I got off work yesterday I HAD to stop by and support my friend at her bake shop.  I was excited to hear that they'll be open later hours for those of us who like to pick up a cupcake, cake or cookies after work.

Not only can you pick up baked goods you can pick up other party supplies like cards, baking cups, sprinkles and mugs.

There were so many pretty sprinkles. If I didn't already have a ton I would have bought some.

It was great to see so many cupcakes available at 6:00 pm when I stopped by. And the best thing, they were fresh and moist.  I've stopped by bakeries later in the day before and the cupcakes are dry because they've been sitting there all day.  Since Delectable Baked Goods is open later their cupcakes will be always be fresh later in the day. Love that.

I picked up chocolate raspberry cupcakes.  One for me and two to share.  They were so pretty and spring looking with their pink frosting.

And yes, they were tasty.  Moist cake and the raspberry frosting tasted like spring. Delectable Baked Goods uses the freshest ingredients so you'll never get that fake flavor taste.

If you're in the Portland metro area stop into Delectable Baked Goods and tell them Fizzy Party sent you.

Lux Sucre Desserts Grand Opening

Lux Sucre Desserts  just opened her very own shop! It's located in the Charbonneau Golf Club shops just off I-5 toward Wilsonville, Oregon.  Totally worth the drive. The drive to the shop is so relaxing on a slow tree lined lane.   I went to her grand opening and her shop was packed!!  So proud of her. A group of ladies were sitting outside her shop enjoying their cupcakes and cookies and I heard one say, "This place is dangerous".  Oh yeah, they'll be back. ;)

A fun little consultation area to discuss your wedding and party treat needs. I love the collage of Lux Sucre Desserts work.  It not only gives you an idea of the different styles of cake she does but it inspires you too.

While you're in Lux Sucre Desserts picking up some cupcakes for a party or house warming you were invited to, grab a hostess gift of these fun mugs.

Not in the mood for cookies or cupcakes?  How about some crispy treats? Dipped in chocolate and covered in fun sprinkles.  Kids can't resist these.

YUM!!! The first time I tried Lux Sucre Cupcakes was a few years ago at A Classic Affair Bridal Show.   So good. I only sampled one and was super tempted to sneak a few more ;)  Her frosting melts in your mouth and the cupcake is so light and delicious.

Getting married, big milestone birthday coming up, retirement party and need a cake? Lux Sucre Desserts has you covered.  How beautiful are these cakes.  I love the sedums on the cake. It makes me want to throw a sedum party so I can get a mini cake with these sedums sitting on top.

Such a pretty watercolour cake.  Love the edible flower work too. This would be a show stopper at your wedding.

I saved my fav cake for last.  So many great details. That rope work, the heart beautifully painted and the big flower. I love the touch of the arrow through the cake too.

If you're in the Portland metro area go to Lux Sucre Desserts.  Get out of downtown Portland and venture out of the East side and explore a great bakery.  The drive to the shop is so relaxing.  A nice slow drive through a tree lined street.

A Visit with Dream Cakes

If you'll remember from last week when I attended A Classic Affair Wedding Show  I visited with mostly bakery vendors.  I posted a few sneak peeks on Instagram and Dream Cakes  commented on one of those pics that she didn't see me there and we should do coffee and cake. Fabulous! Networking and I get cake, I'm there!

I met Dream Cakes  at her bakery in SE Portland. By bakery I mean kitchen. Dream Cakes doesn't have a store front at this time but she does have a great space to bake and meet clients.  While Dream Cakes can create fondant covered cakes, fondant work such as flowers and sugar flowers, her passion is for butter cream cakes.

Originally from Nevada, Johanna has made Oregon her home and we're glad she did. Her beautiful wedding cakes have starred in many wedding receptions. I know I could have spent all day flipping through her books filled with cakes she has created. I don't know how brides choose just one.

Before I left Johanna gave me a mini cake she had created for me. I'm going to have to do more networking with bakers. It was all beautiful with it's smooth sides and perfect shape. Until I got home and squished it as I was getting out of the car. Squished cake still tastes good but makes for a sad little picture.  Johanna made me a white cake with lemon curd filling with blueberries and butter cream frosting.

As I was about to taste it my cat just HAD to see what I was eating. As I knelt down to show him, "it's cake, you don't like cake" he tried to lick it! The arrow shows where I swiped some frosting off with my finger for him. The frosting is Jasper approved. In fact, he wanted more. After I tasted it I could see why. The butter cream frosting melts in your mouth. So smooth and creamy. It compliments the cake well. The lemon curd was delicious and paired beautifully with the blueberries.

I left Dream Cakes not only with a very delicious mini cake but with some amazing opportunities.  I'd love to reveal more but can't at this time.Follow along on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to be sure not to miss continued updates.

Palace Cakes Review

Palace Cakes Portland, Oregon
What's this? a bakery inside that vacant building. I need to check this out.  Every week day morning  I take the train into Portland and would always wonder what was going to go into that vacant building. Then one morning a bakery appeared. Well, I finally went in.  I had seen on Palace Cakes Facebook page that they had carrot cake in the case.  My man loves carrot cake so I walked up to get him  a slice.

Oh my, look at all those delicious cakes. Coconut Chiffon, Enriched Uranium, and a Lemon Chiffon. That lemon cake looked really good but I went for a slice of coconut for me.

Marcus sliced off generous size pieces while telling me about the cakes. He was very informative, friendly and you could tell was passionate about Palace Cakes.  He told me the coconut cake didn't really taste like a Mounds coconut but more like freshly shaved coconut. He was so right. Look at that beautifully shaved coconut skirting the cake.

Now when I say a generous slice I mean generous.  I shared my slice with 2 co-workers.  Kelsey thought the frosting was too sweet. Coleen and I both thought she was nuts ;)  We both really enjoyed this slice.  The cake was moist and the whole slice tasted just like fresh coconut.  If you follow me on Instagram you'll know I had some for breakfast the next day, the slice was that big, mmmm

Onto the carrot cake.  I'm not a carrot cake fan , even though I love carrots fresh out of the garden, but I tried some. I can't very well do a review if I don't try it right. I was pleasantly surprised.  This was really good carrot cake. Very moist, fresh carrot flavor but not overwhelming and the frosting had a great spice bite at the end.

I asked my man what he thought of the cake and he didn't say much.  He didn't have too. His empty plate said it all.

If you live in the Portland metro area I highly recommend visiting Palace Cakes.  I plan on keeping an eye on their Facebook and Instagram so I can see what will be gracing  their case that day.

Baker and Spice Bakery Review

Ah Saturday, what do you have in store for me today?
Every Saturday this year my goal is to try a new baking technique, try new to me bakeries, or have mini parties.

One afternoon I searched the web for bakeries in the Portland Metro Area and came across Baker & Spice Bakery.  So I called up a friend and said, lets go try it out.

The moment we walked in the door the aroma hit us.  MMM, love the smell of bread.  The bakery makes small batches and uses quality ingredients. Just look at those artisan breads.

The bakery was packed with customers and I can see why. Not only did the place smell incredible, the bread look amazingly good and old world but they sell delicious looking baked goods too.

I came home with this mini coconut cake.  The mild coconut taste shown through in this cake.

When we walked into Baker & Spice it reminded me of Le Panier in Seattle's Pike Place Market. The lovely aroma and the popularity of the place. This is a bakery I'll be back to again.
