Babes Brunch- Celebrating the Success of Women

Babes Brunch- Celebrating the Success of Women in Portland, Oregon

Babes-Brunch- womens- networking-portland-oregon

Babes Brunch is created by Mae and Co Creative

Letting your local wedding community know you're offering wedding consulting services along with your party styling means networking and telling every one you meet how EXCITED you are about the services you're offering.  When the Babes Brunch came up, I had to go!

Held at The Evergreen in SE Portland, an event space with circular windows to let the light stream in, beautiful brick walls above and white wood paneling below make this space versatile for any wedding theme.  Maple flooring adds a touch of warmth.  There's a mezzanine above with a staircase leading down to the event space for couples wanting to make a grand entrance, a place to get ready for the wedding or a cozy space for guests to relax from the partying below. The space doesn't feel big, it feels intimate, even though it can host 445 people on the main floor.

The theme for this Babes Brunch was day light disco. I can get down with that. I've never been a night owl. And I had the perfect dress for it that I picked up at Target a few years back on sale. I KNEW there would be an occasion for that dress.  If you've been a fan of Fizzy Party for awhile, you know I love to dress the party theme. If you hire me as your wedding consultant and want me there on the day of your wedding, I'll totally dress your wedding theme.

Street of Dreams- Favorite Houses

Portland Street of Dreams- Fizzy Party's Favorite Houses

Woo Hoo!!! You're back.  I took a little break from my Street of Dreams recap to bring you a solar eclipse party.  Did you take a moment out of your day to watch it? That was something wasn't it.

Now lets look at the two houses that I liked the best.  First up, my fav.  The Barclay- 3,670 square feet, 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and 1 half bath.  The landscaping of this house is kind of what I want our front yard landscaping to be.  Less grass, more texture and shape.

The Barclay at Portland Street of Dreams. Fizzy Party's favorite house

Since Fizzy Party is all about parties, I focused on the party spaces in the houses.  Right away when you walk in to the right was this great little 60's inspired lounge.  I could just picture inviting friends over and serving an old fashioned cocktail while listening to some jazz.  And I'm not into jazz music.

I didn't get any pictures of the outdoor entertaining spaces because there was WAY too many people out there.  I couldn't get any good shots without having a bunch of people in them.

House number one, The Oregon Dream 2017- 4,822 square feet, 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and 2 half baths.  While the farmhouse style isn't my style, the outside of this house did intrigue me.  Let's pop in and check out the entertaining spaces.

I knew there was a reason I liked this farmhouse style house even though farmhouse isn't my style.  There's a whole mini house on the property that's just for entertaining.  There's a basketball court in that house and an outdoor bar.  That little door on the left is a bathroom. Because who wants to walk into the house to use the restroom ;)

This was one of my favorite spots, the fireplace.  What a great spot to sit with friends sipping hot cocoa with a fuzzy blanket wrapped around you.

When there's a chill in the air sit by the fire of The Oregon Dream at Portland Street of Dreams

In case it rains, like it does in the Portland metro area, there's a fireplace under cover too. Oh yeah.  At first I thought, if this was my house I'd remove that t.v. but than I changed my mind.  It would be prefect for outdoor movies all year long.

I really tried to get a shot of this entertaining space without people in it but it was impossible.  I'm not a big pool person because they're a lot of work but I do like that hot tub and the shallow pool seating area.  Perfect for hot summer days.

If you need me I'll be out by the pool. The Oregon Dream at Portland Street of Dreams

On the other side of that bar is an indoor basketball court.  I'd probably change that into an indoor party space or a gym.  I'm not a big basketball player.

Thanks for touring the Portland Street of Dreams with me. What was your favorite party space of these two houses?

Portland Street of Dreams-Outdoor Entertaining

Portland Street of Dreams-Outdoor Entertaining

Welcome back,
Now that we've toured houses four and five, let's take a look at the BIGGEST house on the Street of Dreams tour in Portland.  The Nevaeh, 7,100 sq ft, 7 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms and 1 half bath.  This house has a main house, a mother-in-law's house and a smaller guest house in the back.   Now let's take a look at the entertaining spaces.

Bar area.  Both Storypiece and I thought the candy jars were a fun touch.

Pool anyone?  If I had the space I just might have a pool table.  It would be fun to play on a rainy day with friends. Rules wouldn't apply of course.  We'd play just for the fun of it.

Now this is a backyard entertaining space.  Pool with basketball hoop, slide, hot tub and that little house in the back has a bathroom in it.

Fancy a little pool basketball at Portland Street of Dreams

Not only is there a basketball hoop in the pool there's also a court behind the pool.

After a game of basketball and swimming in the pool it's time for lunch at the outdoor dining table.

Every year at the Street of Dreams the outdoor kitchens are my favorite area.  Funny, because I don't like to cook.  But I do like to grill.  I wonder how hard it would be to build one of these outdoor kitchens. Has anyone done it? Leave me a comment and let me know.

What did you think of the Nevaeh's entertaining spaces?

Portland Street of Dreams- Happy Valley

Portland Street of Dreams- Happy Valley

Once again I got the opportunity to attend The Street of Dreams. This year I attended with Storypiece . We both went with a different focus. Storypiece went for the whole look of the house, the details like the light fixtures, the furnishings etc.  I on the other hand went to check out the party spaces.  Of course I did 😉😆  In this post I'm going to be sharing two of the five houses with you. You'll have to come back to see the other three houses.

Let's start with house number five, the Suteki, 4,739 sq ft, 3 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, 1 half bath.   I'm showing you this house first because it was my least favorite. That's just my personal opinion, many people attending really loved this house.  The house was very minimalist and focused more on texture.  I've never been a fan of the minimalist look.

Suteki House at Portland Street of Dreams. See more at fizzyparty.com

The only real party space in the Suteki was this seating area around the fireplace.  The whole outdoor patio area wrapped around the house and the designer had set out floor cushions.  The outdoor space made me think of yoga and meditation, both things I'm not into. Not saying there's anything wrong with either of those things, they're just not things I enjoy.

House number four, The Elysian, 5,100 sq ft, 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, 1 half bath.   There were a lot of things I liked about this house.  The large porch at the front of the house would be a nice spot to sit and have lemonade on a hot day with a friend.

The Elysian at Portland Street of Dreams. More inspiration at FizzyParty.com

The Elysian had an upstairs room that I could picture the guys hanging out watching a boxing match or the ladies watching a movie for girls night.  Just my opinion but a bigger t.v. needs to go in this room.  Shades of grey permeated through out the house.  That dark grey accent wall has me thinking of painting my half bath a dark grey. And can we talk about that light fixture!  We don't have high ceilings so no way that would look good in our house but it's definitely eye-catching.

This room even comes with your own bar.

Let's take a stroll outside to what is always my favorite part of the Street of Dreams homes.  The outdoor areas are where I spend the most time whenever I tour these homes.  I get so much inspiration and picture so many fabulous parties taking place.

I'd love to have an outdoor fireplace.  Even on a cold rainy night it would be so cozy to sit outside by the fireplace with a thick cozy blanket wrapped around you.

I love outdoor kitchens. I always picture inviting friends over at least once a month for BBQ's. Sitting around the table eating good food, drinking wine and talking into the night. I think I need to watch a YouTube of how to build an outdoor kitchen.

What a great spot to sit and plan parties.  My man could be relaxing in the hot tub there and I'd be  swinging away in that great chair, sketching out my next soiree.

Be sure to come back to see the great entertaining spaces of houses one, two and three.  I can't wait to show you my favorite house.  Leave me a comment and let me know what features you liked about the two houses I've shown you.

Strawberry Picnic

Over the weekend I enjoyed a strawberry picnic hosted by Mint & Mirth under the beautiful St. John's Bridge. It was a perfect summer day and the bridge provided some much needed shade. We didn't want to go home looking as red as strawberries.

How had I not heard of or had Pinkleton's Curious Caramel Corn before today?!  It was so amazingly good. I could have snacked on the whole bag(s). The salted vanilla has a nice salty after taste. My favorite was the Spicy Mexican Cocoa. There was a nice heated KICK at the end.

The Toast Wedding Showcase

This past weekend I was invited to attend The Toast Wedding Showcase  held at Elli Studio's in Portland, Oregon.  I was excited to see what Portland area vendors have to offer couples. I've been married 8, 9 years now and was married at the beach so I used beach vendors. What would Portland vendors have in store for us?
