End of Summer Party Tips

Ok, I KNOW the photos aren't the best and all perfect looking.  That's what happens when you take the pics in the back prep area of a t.v. station.  That's right, this party set up was featured on Afternoon Live.  You should totally go watch.  I give some serious end of summer party tips you'll want to snag.   

So this pic is totally washed out.  BUT,  what I want to point out here is the paper lanterns.  They're great for summer parties.  They are inexpensive and light and perfect for hanging from tree's or  pergolas. Many come with lights that are battery operated so you can extend the party after the sun has gone down. 

Bright candies can add some fun to your end of summer parties.   Be sure the candy sticks with the theme of your party.  I chose a tropical themed end of summer party so I went with bright tropical colourful candy.   If it's going to be a hot day when you host your party be sure to set up the candy table indoors.  Candy and hot sun don't mix.  If you set up your candy bar outdoors on a hot day you'll have a big sticky mess.  

 When setting up a candy bar be sure to have a variety on hand. Pick a variety of colours, flavors and textures.  Cupcakes are always good to have on your dessert table.   If you pick up store bought ones dress them up with candy sprinkles and picks matching your theme.

 It's easy to add handmade details to your party like this flamingo banner I created.  Look for a template of something that matches your theme, trace it out onto card stock and attach to ribbon or clear line with tape.  No one is going to see the back and tape is quick and easy. I added a little glitter to the flamingo beak for some fun.

 No summer party is complete without some fun photo booth props that match your theme.  Everyone loves to take fun photo's that will remind them of all the summer fun with friends when winter hits and it's too cold or wet to host a party outdoors.

Photo props don't have to be expensive.  Pick up some fun glasses at dollar shops and party them up by adding glitter.

Event Entertainment at Fizzy Party Trop Fest

Welcome to Fizzy Party Trop Fest at Opal 28.  Come on up, there's lots of entertainment and fun  outside before the crafting begins.  

Opal 28 has a great outdoor patio space for weddings, parties and events.   The lower patio was the perfect space for a game of flamingo ring toss.  I didn't want to spend money on pots to put the flamingo's in so I spray painted some plastic flower pots I already had on hand, filled the bottom with rocks I had in my yard to weigh them down and then put dirt on top the rocks.

My friend is saying. "This ring toss is not very easy."   That didn't stop people from having fun though.

This flamingo from Shindigz  was a HIT at Fizzy Party Trop Fest.  All the attendees had a lot of fun posing with this guy.  The photo prop behind the flamingo was one of my FAV things at Fizzy Party Trop Fest.   When I told Marquee Design PDX  my idea of an interactive photo op she loved it and ran with it.

 Don't you LOVE this idea?!  It's a giant colouring wall.  Marquee Design PDX  has this great tri-fold chalk board backdrop that she had vinyl tropical cutouts made for the attendees to colour in.   I like the antennae added to the flamingo.

Dessert Bar- Fizzy Party Trop Fest

Welcome back. Did you miss the crafting part of the evening?  If so, pop over here.
End of July I took a leap and hosted my first craft night out at Opal 28.  The attendees and I painted trinket dishes using paints by Plaid Craft.

All that crafting at Fizzy Party Trop Fest can make one hungry so lets get on over to the dessert bar and load up our plates.

First stop, the bar for a drink. We're going to need something to wash down all those tasty treats.  Being a tropical themed party your drink would just be boring if you didn't dress it up.  Dressing up a drink doesn't have to be expensive.  Flamingo straws and palm tree stirrers from Oriental Trading are inexpensive and add a lot of fun to drinks.

This is one of my favorite dessert bars!  Why do I have to make something look so good because now the pressures on to top it.  ha ha!  All that colour just POPs and draws you in.  One of my favorite features of the dessert bar is the gold fringy curtain from Shindigz. Inexpensive but lots of eye appeal.  The SWEETS paper mache letters from Darice started out as plain brown boring letters.  In one short afternoon I took them from boring to tropical.

Let's dish up.  Thank goodness for Instagram because when I saw  Pink Poppy Party Shoppe  post these napkins I knew they were perfect for the event.  Love when that happens.  And I had so many attendees ask me about these great plates from Create Ur Plate.  Small Moments  created the graphics for me.  The great thing about these plates is that you can peel off the graphic underneath and save it for the next party.

So, I might have gone a little overboard on the dessert bar ;)  I have quite the sweet tooth after all.  Lux Sucre  who I met a few years ago at a wedding show  made all the delicious baked goods.  

                       

As much as I love baked goods I'm all over the sugary treats.  Jelly Belly jelly beans have got to be at the top of my candy weakness list.  I can't tell you how many scoops of jelly beans I ate that night.
I should have saved one of the pineapple candy kabobs from Sweets Indeed  because they went fast! Marquee Design PDX was all excited about them.  I think she's my candy sister soul mate.

If you're into gourmet popcorn you would have ignored the dessert table and headed straight to the big bowl of  Poplandia Popcorn  . Coconut on one side and NW raspberry on the other.  The honeycomb balls from Shindigz complimented the popcorn perfectly.

None of the attendees could resist these stinkin cute pineapple shaped strawberry filled macarons that Delectable Baked Goods  created for the event.  I pushed her macaron skills by asking her to create pineapple shaped macarons.  I'd say she gets an A+

Rock candy is so fun, comes in so many great colours and just says, PARTY!!!

I don't know about you but I'm stuffed.
