Oregon Wedding Venue, Vernonia Springs
A few weeks ago I got to attend a wedding styled shoot in a town I'd never been too. I've lived in Oregon all my life but I've never been to Vernonia. Even though it's only about 40 mins from my house I've never been because there's just never been a reason to. Going to this styled shoot was spur of the moment and I'm glad I went. The drive out was beautiful. Tree lined windy country roads took me into the small town and on to my destination of Vernonia Springs. As soon as I stepped out of the car, crickets. No really, I heard nothing but crickets. It was fabulous. So peaceful. I just wanted to stay there all day and soak up the sounds of nature.
Ceremony site
There are several spots you could choose for your wedding site. The pergola area is a great quiet little spot. There is SO much you could do with that pergola. You could decorate it with a few flowers to keep it simple and let all the trees surrounding it do all the talking. Or you could bloom it out with flowers hanging from the top and climbing up the sides. You could drape it in fabric. Add some twinkling lights for an evening wedding. Oh the possibilities.
Inside the lodge is comfy couches and chairs and a big space for hosting your reception if the weather isn't great for an outdoor reception.
Reception site
I just love all the tall pines on this property. You really feel like you're in the middle of no where in the forest. Vernonia Springs isn't just great for weddings. The property is also great for retreats, group parties, family reunions, just because you want to go glamping with your friends. Hold your reception in the pavilion which comes with tables and chairs.
Little details are something I focus on in my parties so of course I noticed all the little details in the pavilion that add to it's charm. The bird houses and the rusty tools hanging from the beam. Comfy Adirondack chairs await your guests who need a break from the dance floor.
Don't be surprised if your guests wander away from the reception to take in all the beauty of this venue. All the tall pines and the lake whisper to you to explore and take in nature.
Overnight accommodations for your guests
If you have some wedding guests who like to stay till the very end they can stay in yurts at the venue. After I came home from the styled shoot I told my husband we should rent one for a weekend and enjoy the quietness of the location. Recharge and refresh.
Some of the yurts are among the trees so it gives you that tent camping in the woods feeling. There's a dock at the lake that is another beautiful ceremony spot. If you choose the dock for your ceremony you'll be surrounded by dragon flies. During the styled shoot there were a lot of dragon flies flying around. We really wanted one to land on the bridal bouquet. What a shot that would have been!
While at the styled shoot this fire pit kept drawing me to it. I was picturing the ceremony taking place, the fun of the reception and ending the night with friends around the fire pit. I love the smell of an outdoor fire. Where's the s'more at?
