Woo Hoo!! Wednesday Barnyard Party Submission

It's Woo Hoo!! Wednesday and time for another party submission. This one is brought to us by Creativities Galore

For my sons 2nd birthday we did a barnyard theme with fabulous printables from Piggy Bank Parties. For the table I used some of his toys for props and it worked out perfectly.

We had chocolate cupcakes and rice krispies or should I say hay bales ;)

I balanced it out with some fresh fruit and veggies it was a hit. I also added some picture props, masks that the guest could use to take silly pictures.

For the guest table I created a simple centerpiece by making a pinwheel from the patterned paper that comes in the printable collections and added one of the circle tags to the center of it then I placed it in a jar next to it I placed one of the barn favor boxes.

As for the favor bags I created those with a brown lunch bag, then painted some grass and added a barn to it, to close it off I glued a thank you tag from the collection to a wooden clothespin to close it off. Hope you enjoy the party, we sure did.

Thank you Creativities Galore for sharing your cute barnyard birthday party.

Happy Birthday Fizzy Party

Blogiversary-party-cupcakes
Happy 2nd Birthday

Today Fizzy Party turns 2. Back on July 25, 2011 the first Fizzy Party blog post made it's debut.

This years birthday/blogiversary snuck up on me. I have a lot going on behind the scenes and I'll be dropping sneak peaks on Facebook , Twitter, and Google+ . Since it snuck up on me I didn't have a chance to get a giveaway together.

I'd love to say today was nothing but a big party. However, work ended up being crazy busy, stayed late waiting for the wedding couple that never showed, the train was slow due to an earlier accident backing up all the trains and as soon as I walked in the door my Bombay begged me for his squishy food. Which he's out of.

So glad I picked up these beauties from Saint Cupcake to celebrate. Party in a box :)

Those 2 in the back are MINE! Coconut cream cheese melt in your mouth goodness. The 2 in the front, carrot cake, are for my man

I think next year I need to get the party community girls together and go to Vegas!

Woo Hoo!! Wednesday Party Submission

Cupcakes and Tea Bridal Shower bought to us by

I came up with the idea for a cupcakes and tea party for Stacy's bridal shower in September 2010. We were both really into cupcakes at the time, even though the Cupcake Crusaders still hadn't been "born" yet, and she and I have always been tea drinkers (our grandmother used to have tea parties with us). Prior to Stacy's bridal shower, she and I had helped with some showers for our older sister. While they were fun, and we'd done some custom things, they weren't anything like what you see now. Stacy was really getting really into parties, since she was doing much of her wedding decor herself. Some of the party ideas I'd seen made me feel like a huge beginner!

I wanted to make everything look consistent and customized. I designed the invitation, with a custom illustration, and all the food, cake, and cupcake flags. The color scheme was borrowed from her wedding colors, but with a different pattern.

My big sister helped, and we thought a cupcake decorating station would be a great shower activity, in lieu of traditional bridal games. We had some pre-decorated samples on cupcake pedestals (not photographed individually, unfortunately) and also around the cake, all up for grabs. We had traditional tea treats (scones, biscotti, biscuits, cookies, clotting cream and jams, etc.), a tea "bar," and incorporated tea pots into centerpiece decorations. For the centerpieces, we made chocolate covered marshmallows, which were meant to look like mini cupcakes. There was one table item that maybe didn't fit into the classy party theme, but added humor. That was the "cupcake poop!" I saw something online for it, thought it was funny, and it went with the cupcake theme. My big sis agreed, so we went for it!

I used my Nana's china for the tea bar, which added a really nice personal touch. She couldn't be there, but it helped make it feel like she was. We also had our family's "punch." I think it's pretty well know, but it always surprises me how many people have never had it before. It's simply ginger ale, with rainbow sherbert scoops dropped in. So good!

We also provided cupcake to-go boxes as favors, for guests to take their decorated cupcakes with them. It encouraged them to make more than one, which was great! Stacy was blown away, especially since our exposure to professional parties was limited at the time. She still talks about how wowed she was (so I felt pretty darn good about it!). This party was the start for more great ones to come. I feel like I have to up the ante each time!

Strawberry Cream Taste Test Drive

Kimberley's Bakeshoppe Strawberry Cream

Last month I tried Kimberley's Bakeshoppe Red Velvet . I was disappointed but was told by those of you who read the post that the vanilla ones were good and I should give them a try. So while grocery shopping last weekend I saw the strawberry cream and decided to give Kimberley's Bakeshoppe one more try.

The package says, "Golden moist vanilla cake filled with luscious strawberries and topped with a swirl of both creamy vanilla bean and strawberry frosting's".

The cake was moist with a hint of vanilla flavor. The frosting in my opinion didn't have much of a flavor.  It was pretty plain. I was expecting more of a strawberry taste. If I was making these I would add strawberry flavoring to the frosting.

The filling once again was very disappointing.  This to me is not a luscious filling as the package suggests.  Where's the strawberry's?  The filling, what little there was,  tasted like strawberry jam. When I make cupcake's with filling it oozes out of the cupcakes. You know it's there.

A package of 4 cupcakes at my local store here in Oregon is $4.99.  In my opinion, skip past these cupcakes and buy yourself a box mix.

Pacific Northwest Blogger luncheon

Made by A Well Crafted Party   Correction. This was not made by A Well Crafted Party
Saturday I attended my first blogger meet-up.  I've heard all about these and was looking forward to connecting with other bloggers in the area and getting some valuable information.  The event was held at Journey's, only about 30 minutes from my home.  Lunch was nice and light which was great since it was a warm day.

We all got a professional picture taken from Margaret Jacobson.  Cara Denison. She put everyone right at ease and of course I had to have fun with the camera and bring out my inner model.

Three projects helped us all get our craft on and get to know our neighbors at our table. I sat with
This Sweet Revery, Rain City Baby, and Harpers happenings  . Not party peeps like myself but a nice group of ladies.

Our first project was a painted canvas tote from Brit.co . The kit comes with everything you need.

Shameless self promotion :) and yes, I know it's crooked

Our next project, I um, didn't finish. It was a hanging plant craft taught by The Paper Mama. All the ladies caught on quick as soon as they heard it was like making a friendship bracelet. I never made those. So not my style, even back when I was kid.

The last project was from A Well Crafted Party .  We didn't have much time left for her project but it was easy enough to do at home.  Printable cupcake tags and a bunting. For those of you reading this she's offering a 15% discount in her Etsy shop. Just use code PNWblogger .Expires 9/30/13

SWAG BAG
I've heard of these but have never seen one in real life. Now I got my very own!  Chocked full of fun goodies.

Wimbledon for Two

Mr. Fizzy enjoys watching tennis and got his inner Fizzy on for Wimbledon this year.  He planned out this whole party for two.  He did the shopping and the set up.  I just baked the cake and decorated it the way he suggested.  Looks like some of my Fizziness is rubbing off.

I bring you Wimbledon for Two, brought to you by Mr. Fizzy
Wimbledon-tennis-party

Mr. Fizzy doesn't like coloured frosting. It has nothing to do with artificial colours or dyes. He just doesn't like the look. But tennis balls are yellow, so I should tint the frosting I told him.  He then informed me that tennis balls use to be white. Sure enough, they did.

The night before Wimbledon, Mr. Fizzy asked me where our ice cube trays were. After I showed him he proceeded to pour the orange juice in them. What are you doing? I inquired.  It's for our mimosas tomorrow. I think it will look good in the pictures. I had to smile.

After I got all Gordon Ramsey with my whip cream plating, the light bulb went off and Mr. Fizzy grabbed the whipped cream to top the mimosas.  He was pretty pleased with the look.

So what do you all think?  How did Mr. Fizzy do on his Wimbledon photo shoot?
