Pumpkin Patch Halloween Graveyard

Pumpkin Patch Halloween Graveyard

pumpkin-patch- sauvie-island-oregon

One of these years I'll buy so many pumpkins that I'll have a pumpkin patch in my backyard. Than I'll of course throw a party and invite all my friends and we'll take a bunch of pics in the Fizzy Pumpkin Patch.  I better start saving now. Pumpkins are pretty inexpensive but to really make a cool pumpkin patch, I'm going to need A LOT of pumpkins.

Create your own backyard graveyard

Set up some Styrofoam tombstones, throw down some plastic bones and add some pumpkins. The tombstones and plastic bones you can get from craft stores and online.  You could make your own tombstones if you want certain sayings on them.  But if you don't care what's written on the tombstone, save yourself some time and just buy the pre-made ones.

The dry grass from not watering it over the summer really adds to the graveyard look. It's been pretty warm here in Portland so the leaves haven't really fallen yet.  The graveyard would look even spookier with fallen leaves and dried dead leaves.

I need more pumpkins. And maybe some hands coming up out of the ground. Zombify the graveyard.

This year I went out to Kruger's Farms on Sauvie Island and got my pumpkins.  I also picked up some delicious caramel apples.

Halloween Party- Black Cats and Pumpkins

Halloween-party-black-cats-pumpkins

For this years Halloween party I went with a black cats and pumpkin treats theme.  It was a small party with just a few friends so I didn't go all out.  I didn't even create a backdrop! I chose the theme because we adopted two black cats this summer and I love pumpkin treats.

Fill the table with pumpkin treats-

Pumpkin muffins, pumpkin bread, pumpkin salsa, pumpkin popcorn and little chocolate pumpkin cakellets. It's pumpkin over load!!

The Poplandia Pumpkin Spice popcorn is delicious. It's the taste of the season in your mouth.

Fall Trends- Plaid and Deer

Fall calls for fun times with friends. A chance to get together before all the holiday busyness begins. The last few years I've had a pumpkin carving party. Not this year. I saw this invitation and a party idea formed. Who knew I would be so on trend. I had my party the first weekend of October and now BAM!  I'm seeing plaid and deer everywhere.

Guests were greeted at  the door by an easy diy sign.  Small Moments  created the graphic. I took an artists canvas, wrapped it in faux bois contact paper, attached the graphic and added a feather.

A splash of colour at the front door from the fall mums, buffalo check fabric and antlers on the pumpkin hinted of the party theme inside.  If you're on Instagram check out the hashtag for more photo's of the party.
Hay bail from Michael's. Faux pumpkin glittered up with an antler template I made.
When we bought our house I knew this red wall was perfect for parties. You would think a cream wall would be better but this red goes great for Valentine's, Cinco De Mayo, fall, Christmas...

Red being my fav colour I just love the look of this fall spread. It makes me think of a cozy cabin in the woods.

Fancy & Fold 's cupcake toppers fit the theme perfectly and added that rustic touch to my mini pumpkin cakes. These cakes are great for breakfast too.

Yep, the table linen isn't smooth for a reason. I wanted it to look like a picnic blanket tossed onto a lawn for a fall picnic.
Antlers borrowed from Bella Grey Designs.
The little fox place card holder I picked up at Khol's a few years ago. I knew it would be perfect for a party someday.
If you want mini donuts for your party,Green Mountain Mini Baked  is who you need to order from. I had a hard time not eating all of these before my guests arrived. They make great party favors too.

The show stopper. Caramel Apple Snickers Cake. I followed the recipe from Half Baked Harvest. Does it look as pretty as her's? No. But here's the thing. My guests didn't care, they didn't know what it was suppose to look like and it tasted amazing!

It's not a fall party without apple cider.

After loading up on tasty treats my friends and I retired to the living room to catch up on everyone's summer activities and fall plans. I kept the comfy cabin feeling going with natural elements, buffalo check, candles and a great banner by Fancy & Fold.

I can't help myself with the details. Sure the label on the wine bottle would have been fine. But look how great the label Small Moments created looks with everything. It blends seamlessly.

Auntie Beas  acorn cookies mimic the acorns in the napkin rings and the glittered acorns from the table. Gratitude cards from Small Moments helped steer the conversation away from work.  Work dominates enough of our life and it's stressful enough. This party was all about fun and relaxation. No work stress allowed.

Guests were sent home with homemade pumpkin scrubs.  They make your shower smell just like fall and your skin so soft.

I hope you enjoyed this fall party. I'd love to hear your thoughts and if you use any of these ideas let me know.

Fall Holiday Party

This year I had the pleasure of being part of the A Blissful Nest Holiday Team. I created this party as my contribution.  Grab a Moscow Mule, curl up on the couch and enjoy.

The beginning of fall means leaves changing colors, crisp cool air and my friends looking forward to an invitation in the mail from me for a fall get together.  A chance for us to catch up after all the summer fun spent with family.  My fall party is always a casual get together with good treats, some good wine and minimal party decor. The emphasis is on time with friends.

Plaid is so on trend for fall so for this party I combined plaid, natural elements and of course, a little glitter. Using a lot of elements I already had around the house.

Often times when friends get together conversations can turn to work. To prevent that this year I had Small Moments create gratitude cards to spur meaningful conversations and to keep the conversation flowing away from work.

To create the glitter pumpkins I picked up some small white ones at the store, painted mod podge on them and sprinkled glitter all over the areas covered in mod podge. For the glittered acorns, I collected the acorns from a local park, painted the tops in Elmer's white glue and sprinkled glitter over the glue covered areas.

Along with fall treats we enjoyed a glass of wine. To continue the plaid trend I bought some fabric and draped it over our ottomans.  I don't have a serving tray so I used a cookie sheet that I covered with wood themed paper from the craft store.

I ordered custom sugar cookies for the party because this party was all about being casual and relaxed.  Ordering cookies instead of making my own saved me time and stress so I could focus on my friends.

Although this was a casual relaxed party I can't help myself when it comes to the details. Besides the custom sugar cookies to match the party I also had labels for the wine created. For the napkin rings I tied twine around the napkins, cut out fall leaves and acorns from paper and attached them to the twine.

Parties don't have to be big over the top productions all the time. By using items you already have around your house and adding a few custom elements you can create a great looking party your friends will be impressed by.  No need to tell them how easy it was to put together. Just sit back and enjoy the compliments.

Pumpkin Everything II

Pumpkin Everything is back!

Trader Joe's flyer for Pumpkin everything came out so you know I HAD to make a trip there. When I checked out the cashier said, "pumpkin everything trip I see". You got that right.

I'm not a big cereal bar fan but this is PUMPKIN people! and yes, they are tasty. The cashier told me they were one of his favorites.
My friend Carole called me and told me about these. She said her kids devour a box as soon as she brings them home. I'm not a chocolate cookie fan and I didn't notice the filling wasn't pumpkin until I got home. But I tried them anyway. Meh. I took them to work for my co-workers.
I know, these aren't pumpkin either but the Glo Balls look like pumpkins! They are my FAV Hostess treat. The Twinkies are filled with S'cream filling so I had to pick those up too. I'm telling you, I'm a sucker for seasonal food items.
Move over Cheerios, Pumpkin O's are in town. These are very good. In fact, I need to stock up before they're gone. They're better then Cheerios in my opinion.
Yep, another non-pumpkin item snuck into my post. Notice it's a ghost shape and remember my inability to pass up seasonal food items. I was disappointed in this Twix though. I like Twix. However, this one had too much cookie for me. And it's not even shaped like a ghost. Not really. Looks more like an egg.
Oh, this cream cheese is SO good. The bagels are very plain. Not much pumpkin flavor. Until you add the cream cheese. mmm. The cashier told me the cream cheese is super good smeared on pumpkin bread.
Green tea is my go to morning drink. Until pumpkin season and then it's pumpkin spice chai.  I'm going to have to bring some milk to work because I've been mixing this with water and it's not as good as if I were to mix it with milk.
See anything you like? I'd love to hear what you want to try or have tried.

Family Reunion. What should I bring?

It's one of those days in Oregon where it's just going to rain all day.  I'm at a family reunion today so it can rain all it wants.  I'll be surrounded by extended family love and LOTS of good food.  But what to bring?

I"m bringing delicious spinach dip. You know the one. It's on the back of the Knorr package.
Notice my sample on the edge there :)  I had to make sure it set up right, hee hee

Here's some other ideas of wonderful things you could bring to a family reunion.

Pop on over to her page and check it out. Trust, it's worth it.

Time to get ready to head out to spend the day with the family.  I feel truly blessed to have been born into such a wonderful family.

Delish pumpkiny goodness

I'm Baaack! Were you beginning to think I would never do a post again. Are you having Woo Hoo!! Wednesday withdrawals?  I know I've been a little MIA but I haven't had any parties for awhile. I'm having withdrawals myself.  And I'm not one to throw a fake party just so I have something to post. With the major holiday season approaching I'll be posting regularly again.

Snooping around Pinterest  one day I came across this delicious pumpkin cupcake recipe.  Now come November, I'm all about the pumpkin.  Getting my Vitamin A on. So you know I had to try these babies.
mmm, mmm, mmm oh my goodness. You NEED to make these.  Cooking Classy is where you can find the recipe.  If you end up making it, which I highly recommend you do, revisit her page and leave her a comment. Bloggers LOVE to know people enjoyed reading the post.

I've been enjoying these for breakfast :)   What? pumpkins good for you. I pair it with a glass of chocolate milk so not only am I getting my Vitamin A on but my calcium and D as well. This party girl has to boost her immunity for the whirlwind party season approaching.
Doesn't this just make you want to make these right now.  Trust. They're worth it. People at the office will be giving you compliments all day. IF you bring any in, hee hee

Let me know if you make them and what you think.  Leave a comment here or on the Fizzy Party Facebook page.
