Fishing Birthday Party

 Fish on!

Grab your bait and fishing rod and join me for a Fishing Birthday Party.  My cousins girlfriend did a great job on this party.  With a Cricut, Pinterest and a little in put from me, Kirsten threw one fun memorable party.  Even my cousins friends were commenting on all the great details. I don't think you understand how amazing that is. Guys, GUYS commented on the details.  Ladies, you understand the significance of that.

This adorable invitation arrived in my mailbox and set the theme for the party.  Kirsten made this with her Cricut. I love the play on words and the jute fishing line detail.  I doubt these details were noticed by my cousins friends. Keep scrolling for the details that they did notice.

When you pulled up to the house this giant sign directed guests to where the party was.  Another cute play on words.

This sign was created using the Cricut, I really need to get me one of those.  The jute fishing line attached to a real bobber added a fun touch and the cattails and reed grass made you feel like you were out on the water waiting for the fish to bite.

The deck was covered in fishing net and we attached Cricut cut fish with hooks. The haul for the day looks pretty good so far.

These bait buckets were a hit with the kids.  Filled with sour gummy worms, regular gummy worms and other candies.  The bait buckets were found  in the Target dollar section and we wrote on them with chalk.

A fishing party wouldn't be complete without fish to eat. We frosted these in a lovely shade of Salmon.

Now THIS is a detail the men noticed.  The fishing bobber lights and fishing tree.  My cousin had recently cut this tree down in his yard and we decided to make it a party prop.

Cricut cut fish, bobbers and bait of several different varieties.  The men really liked this tree.

I love the POPs of colour! I'm a colour girl. The brighter the better. Ok, maybe not neon, but I'm attracted to bright coloures.  That little lime green lure, yep, my eye went straight to it.  Made you look ;)

Thank you Kirsten for inviting me to this fun fishing themed party. I hope all you readers got some great ideas from this party.  Fish On!

**This post was not sponsored by Cricut. It just happens to be what Kirsten used to make the cool fish and invitation**

Wedding Venue and Business Mixer

Wow! Hard to believe this event was back in September of 2013.  Why didn't I post it then you ask? Good question. Lets call it life. Life happened. It happens to us all from time to time.

Although I'm not a wedding planner or stylist I was encouraged by Cupcake Wishes and Birthday Dreams to attend the Wedding Wire Mix and Mingle Event taking place in my city of Portland, Oregon. I called Wedding Wire and explained that I wasn't a wedding planner but I was a party blogger and very interested in attending.  The Wedding Wire representative also encouraged me to attend. The event took place at West End Theater Ballroom .  I loved the balcony just off the ballroom.

The event was full of lots of mixing and mingling and a presentation by Wedding Wire. I was glad I attended because you never know what direction Fizzy Party may take in the coming years.
Wedding Wire
The ballroom was a nice space where I met a lot of people in the wedding industry.  I was informed that many of these people come to the same events and know each other already and may not approach me since I would be a new face.  Well I didn't let that deter me.  I walked right up to people, handed them my business card and introduced myself.  Not being in the wedding industry I had to really sell myself to them.  Good thing I don't have any problems being confident and talking to people. At the bottom of this post you'll find links to businesses I made connections with.

The candelabra in front of the mirror and the flowing curtains added a romantic feel to the conference space.

Bouquets and Balloons- Flower and Ballroom Decor for all events.  Cheryl told me she started out with flowers and later got into balloons.  The balloon decor is very popular she told me.

Image Floral and Event Design- Michelle has been creating beautiful floral designs since 1994.

Balenda's Flowers

Candy Glass Productions- Andrea and I talked about videos for my blog.

Modern Event Solutions- This is one person I didn't have to approach. He was like a hummingbird, zipping from table to table passing out his card, giving us a little information and off he'd go to the next table. Just the kind of energy I would expect from a DJ.

Mint + Mirth- Fine Event Bartending Services. Joni told me they do smaller parties too. Not just big events like weddings.

Linen Tablecloth- I talked to Ashley and Kristina for a long time. They seemed very interested and we discussed some ventures and they said they would be in touch.  I didn't expect to hear from them, there were so many people to meet at the event.  However, I received an email from them, which lead to a few more exchanges and as I type this, I need to get back into contact with them. Always a good idea to follow up. You never know what adventure an email could take you on.

Party Venue

Just when I was sad that all the party shops were closing in my area of Oregon, up pops Fancy That !  A shop filled with fun party items in a rainbow of colours. Back in December, yep I'm a little behind, Fancy That held an open house event at The Orenco Hotel in Hillsboro, Oregon.  I was excited to attend to see this new party shop, check out the hotel party rental space and meet the owner of Fancy That, Lisa.
The Orenco Hotel blends in with the neighborhood by looking like other brownstones in the area. The flags at the entrance are the only thing that gives it away that it's a hotel.  This blending in gives the hotel a comfortable feel. You feel a part of the neighborhood right away.  Coffee shops, restaurants and of course, Fancy That are all within walking distance of the hotel.
When you rent a ground floor room at the hotel you get a cozy patio area with access from the room and  sidewalk above.  Anyone walking by on the sidewalk wouldn't even know the patio was there. It's open yet secluded.
The hotel manager gave me a tour of the rooms and the patio area which I fell in love with.  Close to the street yet cozy and secluded.  I was imaging how great it would be to sit out on the patio with friends on a warm summer night after eating dinner at a restaurant that is within walking distance.

This room is straight across the hall from the rental space.  Perfect for relaxing after a party.  The room has a small kitchen area, desk area with T.V., a couch and bed. The red door leads to the patio pictured above.
The bed in the room looked very comfortable and I imagined how nice it would be after a party in the rental space to be able to relax in this room. The colours are soothing and it was very quiet.
Fancy That had set up the rental space to help give us party bloggers, wedding planners and party stylists an idea of how to utilize the space.  We all loved the bank of windowed doors. In the warmer months the doors could be left open to let in a summer breeze.
Fancy That had set up a coco and sweets bar with products from their shop.
Little additions to your party items take them from blah to WOW!  Tags for your cups and custom candy bar wrappers are easy and make a big impact.  All items are available at Fancy That's shop.
All of us at the event kept going back for seconds and thirds of those Peppermint Pretzels. So good.
Silly Cow Farms chocolate milk was served. Remember, this was December when I attended this event. I loved the little bottles it comes in and it tastes good too. After drinking all the hot chocolate you could re-use the bottles, they're so cute.
Fancy That had set the tables with matching paper placemats and plates with hot cocoa party favors.  We all got to take a hot cocoa party favor home.

All items used on the drink and dessert table and on the dining tables are from  Fancy That which is located at 1336 NE Orenco Parkway Station, Hillsboro, Oregon.

**All opinions expressed in this post are my own and I was in no way compensated by Fancy That or The Orenco Hotel**

Cupcake Prop

What happens when you tell a creative friend of yours you're embarking on a new journey and opening an etsy shop?  You receive a surprise in the mail with creative wrapping.

My fabulously talented friend TheMistressT of Bubble Off Plumb Productions Inc.  created this cupcake prop for me to use.
I love the touch of lace and jewels.
Excuse the ripped paper. I was so excited to see what America's Next Top Model Cupcake Prop was I got a little carried away when I was opening it.
The poms fit perfect!
Now I don't have to bake cupcakes every time I make a new pom colour for the shop.  I can use my wonderful cupcake prop.  Thank you TheMistressT!!
