Party Power Shopping

ROAD TRIP!!!  Saturday I drove up to meet Party Pinching . Have you visited her site?  She's a candy creation queen. When I go down the candy aisle at the store, all I see are bags of candy. Party Pinching see's bumble bees, lady bugs, ground hogs, panda's. Well, you just need to pop on over to her site to see all the CUTENESS!

There's only one party store left near me, The Lippman Co.so I was excited to visit some other party stores with another Party Diva.  Oh my gosh, TOO. much. FUN!  Shopping the aisles of the party stores Party Pinching and I would reach for the same party goodie and get almost the same ideas from them.  She is a hoot and I could have spent the entire day with her. Looking forward to many more visits.  I met my Party Sister :)

Today's post is about the stores we went too. Wednesday will be on the yummy cupcake shop that we got a sugar rush from. A Party Diva's gotta refuel with a cupcake after party power shopping ;)

These stores are not in order as I'm saving the best for last. Eh eh, don't be zipping to the bottom and spoil it.

The Party Store is a small mom and pop type store.  I love these stores. They are filled with all kinds of fun stuff you may not find at the chain stores.   PLUS you are supporting a small business, always a good thing.  I should have taken a photo of the outside, oops! This store not only has your basic party goods but bins and bins of any colour balloon you could want.  Even balloons with prints, paws, cow, zebra, lady bug.  And costumes. Lots of fun costumes and accessories.
I got a laugh out of the Oriental Trading bags in the store.

Here's what I bought at The Party Store, I couldn't pass up the lady bug balloons and those little rubber duckies are just too cute.

Wights is a garden center. You never know where you might find unique party goods. I love the 4th of July displays. So colourful! If I had unlimited $$ I would have bought a lot of it.

What did I end up buying? This adorable little park bench that was just inside the entrance.

Ok, you've been patient long enough. Here's the store I was SUPER excited about, HOBBY LOBBY !  We don't have these in my state :(  Maybe that's a good thing though because it's a Party Diva's heaven. Party Pinching told me it's like Michael's on steroids and she wasn't kidding.
LOOK at this and this is just the view from the entrance. Aisle upon aisle of party goodness. It's like the Costco of party and craft supplies.

What's wrong with this picture?

Here's what's in my bag:

I look forward to my next visit with Party Pinching and more Party Power Shopping :)

Woo Hoo!! Wednesday

Woo Hoo!! Mardi Gras in an hour.  I threw a little Mardi Gras fizzy party at work during the lunch hour for a few friends and co-workers.  We had such a fun time and I was asked to throw another one, Woo Hoo!!
It was SO hard for me not to go ALL out. But I had to keep in mind that I had to be able to set up and take down quickly. After all, I was working and the room might be needed the next day.  So I had to keep decorations easy and simple.  Something I could set up in the 15 minutes I arrived at work early and on my 15 minute morning break.  SO hard not to go ALL out though.

I jazzed up the board a little by writing the famous New Orleans saying, Laissez Le Bons Temps Rouler (Let the Good Times Roll). My co-workers were impressed and thought I spoke French, hee hee. Only if it's party related ;)   See my masks I **blinged** up :) Everything you see on the board, Dollar Tree. Great place for party decor.

A little shameless self promotion :)  All made with stickers and paper from Michael's.  More ***BLING***

Guests to the party participated by bringing food to share.  I find that people like to bring something or help. They may not want to throw the WHOLE party, but they want to be a part of it. I made tags for the food I knew was coming. Quinoa Salad, some vegetarian rice, little cuties and Mardi Gras coloured Peeps! My co-worker and I LOVE Peeps :) Oh look more of the masks I made :)

Mmm fruit, so good, Peeps in Mardi Gras coloures!!! Mini Muffulettas and a pasta salad.  Think the table SCREAMS Mardi Gras enough ? I think it looks like Bourbon street after the parade floats go by :) Woo Hoo!!

The best end of the table, carbs and SUGAR, mmmm King Cake, Moon Pies and delish garlic cheese rolls.
The Jambalaya with spicy Louisiana sausage is missing from these pictures. It showed up after we were all busy stuffing our faces.  I was told it was SPICY, BURN your mouth spicy, BRING IT!  When it arrived it was hot but could have been hotter ;) You're talking to a girl who can't eat pizza without sprinkling it generously with dried red pepper flakes.

Let's take a closer look at some of these Mardi Gras foods, shall we. We shall.
These Mini Muffulettas were tasty. Who knew I liked them. I got the recipe from Sandra Lee's Semi-Homemade magazine Jan/Feb 2011 issue. Want the recipe? Shoot me a message on Facebook or email me.  Sparkly sign :)

These mini blackberry pies are not Mardi Gras food but who cares, they're melt in your mouth delish! Thank you Shannon for bringing these. mmm mmm mmm

Moon Pies inspired by my friend at Party Pinching. **Blinged** out with glittery candy sparkles. See all the confetti, my party signature. I confetti THE HECK out of my parties.  And my cards. So if you ever get a card from me, be forwarnd. Do not open it above your morning oatmeal ;)

Tradition has it that who ever gets the baby in the King Cake brings the King Cake next year. Well who on earth is going to remember that. So instead I gave out a little prize. I baked 3 babies (oh yes, we had a great laugh over that) but only one was found.

The traditional King Cake.  Or in my case, the cheater King Cake. Sandra Lee Semi-Homemade calls it The Big Easy King Cake but I got more laughs and like the sound of cheater King Cake instead. What's the cheat? Cans of Pillsbury cinnamon rolls. SO easy. I just stuffed the little babies inside and baked them. More glittery candy sparkles and **blinged** out sign.

Throwing a mini party during the lunch hour takes a little more coordination, I don't have the time to set up like I do at home and it all has to come down WAY too soon. But it did break up our day and brought some lightness to a co-worker who otherwise was having a pretty crappy day. My co-workers asked me to throw more and fabulous, will bring food :)  I do believe another mini lunch hour work party is in order. St. Patricks Day and Easter...I'm looking at you!

Mardi Gras project

Back from a trip to the beach, LOVE the beach, and getting my craft on on Sunday night.  Tuesday I'm having a little Mardi Gras party at work during our lunch hour.  I couldn't set up last week and take photo's to share with you all because where we're having the little fizzy party was not available last week.  But I can share with you a project I worked on as I enjoyed some chocolate wine and stuffed my face with too many mini red velvet cupcakes :)

Take these plain looking Dollar Tree masks (6 for $1)

                                                          Add some glittery fun

Ta-Da! Jazzed up Mardi Gras masks

Doesn't the mask look SO much better all glitterfied. Just don't drink too much chocolate wine while making these ;)  You might end up with more glitter on you than on the mask hee hee

Sunday Soiree Challenge

I entered my first P.S. Make it Your Own Sunday Soiree Challenge. The winner was announced on Valentine's Day. I don't have access to Internet at work, I miss out on SO MUCH! Ugh! So I had to wait until I got home at 6 p.m. Good thing we had a Valentine Party at work and a BUSY day to keep my mind off it. I seriously need to get me a laptop or upgrade my I-Pod with Internet access so I don't have to wait ALL day next time. Plus I'm missing out on some connection time with you all on Fizzy Party's Facebook page.

5:00 p.m. the whistles blows. I zip home as fast as the train will take me. Hoping all the while it doesn't break down and type in http://www.psmiyo.com Who won? Who won? ... Not me. Bummer. Did you see the winning design and story?  Story, I was suppose to write a story to go along with my pictures. Oops! no wonder I didn't win. Congratulations to Melinda!! The lovely little story that went with it was so sweet how could she not be the winner :)

Would I have liked to have won? Well OF COURSE! Who doesn't like to win? It was my first time entering this challenge and now I know where the bar is. I need to step it up for the next challenge round and train hard. I did have fun with this one and grew a few brain cells in the process. Always a good thing. Taking the items given and creating a Date Night Tablescape around it was fun.
Our items were: Toilet paper, rice, lemon, chocolate and candle.

Here's my design:

I put rice in the heart dishes to hold my peanut butter chocolate lips, made lemon drops and used toilet paper to accent the table.

I took more photo's than this but hmmm, they seem to have disappeared. I'm looking forward to the next round. This time I know to add a great back story to the photo's. Round II here I come!

Woo Hoo!! Wednesday

Valentine's day is over but I'm still Woo Hooing!! over the cute little party we had at work.  One of the bosses put it on with her staff.  You know who you are and a BIG thank you to you.  I told them they should have told me they were planning this little party because I could have helped Fizzy it up :)  We're already talking Valentine's Party 2013 Woo Hoo!!

It's hard to REALLY decorate up our work space because we're open to the public and only have the lunch hour to decorate up and enjoy the goodies.  The POP of red and pink made the work space look super festive.  Most of the employees dressed in red and pink helped too. Woo Hoo!!

A lot of the treats were store bought and I won't show you any of those. Ok, well, maybe I'll show you just one of the store bought treats. They looked so yummy. NO, I didn't eat one. I snacked on some other goodies. Hang on, you'll see them. Here's the store bought red velvet cupcakes. Pretty.

I am SO glad one of the bosses had this party. I found a fellow party girl! Woo Hoo!!! She loves to bake tasty treats for the holiday's too and jazz them up, Fizzy style ;) Shout out to you Shannon. Here's a look at her super cute Valentine treats.

These heart shaped brownies were like Ding Dongs. You remember those.  Chocolatey goodness on the outside with cream filling on the inside. Mmmm

Mini cheesecakes, oh nummy. YES I did eat one of these.  Oh I was tempted to eat another but I held out for the next amazing treat Shannon made.

These little beauties are why I only had one mini cheesecake bite. Mini blackberry pies with creme fraiche. Oh my goodness gracious these were melt in your mouth DE-LISH! These little guys didn't last.  I am SO buying myself a little pie pan.

My homemade peanut butter lips made an appearance.  Melt in your mouth goodness. I LOVE how people can't believe I make these :)  Thanks for the love co-workers :)

Want in on a few secrets of the party? Happy to share with anyone who asks here or on the Fizzy Party Facebook page.

Valentine's Day!

                       Happy Valentine's Day!

Today I'm surprising one of my best friends and a few lucky co-worker friends with a Valentine. I have no kids to prep Valentine's for but I do like adding a little Fizzy to my friends days on holiday's.

Oohhh and I'm going to a Valentine party too :) Woo Hoo!!! One of the bosses at work is throwing a little goodies party. MMMM, cupcakes, cookies, and candies. SWEET! You know I'll be taking pictures and sharing of course.

Here's my easy peasy inexpensive Valentine. Valentine's don't have to be spendy to make some one's day.
Adding Fizzy to family, friends and YOUR day is not about $$$$$$. It's about $ and maybe $$.

Take one heart shaped box from the Dollar Tree, line it with a Valentine napkin from Dollar Tree cause who knows if the box is food safe right. Add some red hots (mmmm) , Sweetheart Cinnamon tea, the rest of the box of tea is mine :) and some homemade chocolate peanut butter lips, Sooooo much better than Reeses. Yep, you heard me.  SO much better.

How will you be celebrating Valentine's day?

To Tweet or not to Tweet?

I don't have a Twitter set up. I'm debating. To Tweet or not to Tweet?

I've been doing some snooping around the party blogs I follow and just about all of them Tweet. Should I be Tweeting I wonder?

I snoop a little more, delving deeper into Tweeting culture.

Just what are these party blogs Tweeting about? What AM I missing?

My findings: the Tweets of party bloggers is the same thing that's in their blog or on their Facebook page. I'm not missing anything. So I think, why Tweet?

**Update: I'm tweeting!  A Lot. Come Tweet with me !

Woo Hoo!! Wednesday

I gotta tell ya, I almost didn't do a Woo Hoo!! Wednesday today. GASP! I know right. I can hear you all now, But it's Wednesday (said in a whiny kid voice) and we need some Woo Hoo!! to get us through hump day.

Well I couldn't not do a Woo Hoo!! post, I mean Valentine's Day is around the corner and there is SO much Woo Hoo!!! out there. Take a look at all of these Valentine's Woo Hoo!!

Lynlees Petite Cakes makes the most amazing art from fondant. She gives you tutorials too but I highly doubt mine would turn out this amazing.

Another breathlessly talented fondant artist Mimicafe Union

The thing with roses is they're beautiful but expensive and last what...a day?  Now these roses would make a better Valentine gift.  Chocolate covered Oreo's from Sweet Temptations.

I think these little Cupids are too adorable to eat. HA! yeah right, who can resist a cake pop.
The Cake Poppery is beyond talented.  My cake pops never look this perfect.

Add a little Woo Hoo!! to your Valentine's this year.  Buy that special cookie, splurge on the decadent cake, a bottle of chocolate wine or that expensive hotel with the hot tub that over looks the city, beach , river. How you will Woo Hoo!! your Valentine's day?

Are you ready for some football?

It's Super Bowl Sunday!  Once again, I was not invited to any parties.  None of my friends throw Super Bowl parties. Boo Hoo.  I would have, except our team, the Packer's didn't make it.  I would have thrown a big 'ol Super Bowl party if they had.  Even though I wasn't invited to any parties my husband and I are still going to party it up low key style.  Pizza, soda, a beer for him and football brownies.

These aren't my original idea. I've seen them all over the place but can't tell you the first place I saw them. I can't remember.  My friend called last night to tell me she was going to a Super Bowl party and I told her I was making these.  She was impressed :)  Why, thank you!  They're really so very easy though.  Make your brownies, cut out with a cookie cutter and frost. Easy Peasy. She was still impressed, love her :)

If you're team made it to the super bowl, I hope yours wins.  Me personally, I'm looking forward to the half time show and all the commercials ha ha

Homemade Valentine Chocolates

I'm bringing these to a party :)  I personally never have a Valentine's day party. I have no kids to throw one for and my husband and I have a tradition for our Valentine's celebration.  We run the Couples Classic 5k and visit the spot along the coast where we were engaged.  Sometimes we stay the night at the beach and other times we just come home. So I'm excited to be going to a party. Dollhouse Bake Shoppe blog
is having a virtual Valentine's day party. How fun will this be :)

Thanks to the Decorated Cookie I found out about the party, headed over to Dollhouse Bake Shoppe and LOVED her sight! So of course I had to bring some of my famous homemade peanut butter chocolates.

Here's what you'll need:

1/2 stick of margarine
1 cup powdered sugar
1 cup peanut butter
Bag of Wilton chocolates ( I use these because they come in colours and are so easy to use)
Molds
A good paint brush

You can use any brands. I just happen to have these.

Mix all 3 ingredients together, kneading well. I do this with a spatula.

Melt the chocolate wafers in a double boiler. Keep on low heat.  You could melt the wafers in the microwave too but I'm a double boiler kinda gal.

Brush chocolate around the sides and bottom of the mold. I then tamp the mold on the counter to get out air bubbles. Put in the refrigerator until firm.

Remove from the refrigerator and fill with peanut butter.

Cover the peanut butter with chocolate and refrigerate again until firm.

Yummy homemade peanut butter chocolates that taste WAY better than Reeses Peanut Butter Cups. These melt in your mouth.  I say they're famous because my friends look forward to them every time I make them.

My aunt passed this recipe on to me. She took a class at Michael's and got the recipe there.

Happy Valentine's Day!  Thanks Dollhouse Bake Shoppe for hosting :)
