Woo Hoo!! Wednesday

Oof, am I ever late in getting this post up. Shame on me. Early New Years resolution, no more late posts!

Being Wednesday, it's time to Woo Hoo!!! at some amazing Christmas cakes that I wish I had the talent to make.  Maybe one of these months, not this month of course, I'm too busy enjoying all the Christmas FUN, I'll try to make an amazing cake like these.

Cake Central is featuring a cake that has 2 of my fav things, red, my favorite colour and cute little gingerbread men.

This ornament cake from Inspired by Chocolate and Cakes  is SO vibrant. I love the colours. Sadly she's in Australia so you can't order one, well, maybe you could. Her cakes sound delish.

Sugar Sweet Cakes and Treats did an Amazing job on this cake.  RED, my fav and the white stands out beautifully against it. Click on the link and she tells you just how she did it to. That way when I FINALLY decide to try my hand at cake making I'll know how to start :)

I could spend HOURS on this blog, The Decorated Cookie . Not only did this super CUTE snowman cake come from her site, she gives you tutorials that are perfect for those of us who have never made such artistic cookies and cakes.  I just adore the little snowmen on this cake :)  Definitely giving her some blogger love this weekend when I have more time. Need to get my buns on the bike for at least 30 and than finish off my Christmas decorating tonight.

Do you make Christmas cakes?

My dad's favorite Christmas movie is "A Christmas Story". You know the one they play a marathon of on the cable channels.  These cookies by Oh Sugar Events are adorable. Dad would love them.

My favorite is "The Grinch" LOVE that movie. Not the new one with Jim Carey but the classic. These cookies by The Domestic Sugar Bake Shop are my kind of cookie :)

Oh my goodness are these baby Rudolph's stinkin CUTE! From Just Crumbs

\

Sweet Sugar Belle has a great selection of cookies to look at. Grab a glass of a milk and get inspired.

Are you inspired to bake some Christmas cookies?  Take a photo and post it on my Fizzy Party Facebook page. I'd love to see what you're baking :)

Civil War Football

November 26th is the Civil War football game between Oregon State and University of Oregon.

Image from Spirit Mt.
I'm not having a party, although I should have. I'll be Christmasing up my house :) Possibly going to a friends to watch it. I better bug her now about it, hee hee.  If I was going to have a party you'd see me wearing this,

Available at Football Fanatics
That's right, I'm a Beaver, Go OSU!!!

I'd serve up some great party food like you'll find on Celebrations at Home

Dessert, 2 cakes of course, because Oregon State wouldn't be caught eating a slice of University of Oregon cake.  And the Ducks wouldn't eat from the Beaver's cake.

Both cakes from Cake Central

Good luck to both teams {Goooo Beavers!!!}

Happy Thanksgiving !!!!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!!!!!!! everyone. I hope you are all spending it with family and friends and enjoying the wonderful tastes of home made food.

Thanksgiving for me begins early. Not to cook, but to run 4 miles in the Turkey Trot. I usually do this with my step-daughter but her knees have been hurting so I'll be running with friends this year. Than it's off to my aunts where 10-15 of us gather for good food, laughter and great desserts.  My aunt is a dream, she does the bulk of the cooking. Big shout out to Aunt Sharon, Thank you! for cooking all that great food.

I bring one of the desserts.  Sometimes I make cupcakes but I always bring my homemade peanut butter chocolates. Oh yeah, I could make the turkey's look all fancy with different coloured chocolates. This of course would make them POP and look more gourmet. But all those different colours takes a long time to do and 2 seconds for my cousin to consume. So I just do all chocolate.  Maybe for Christmas I'll get all fancy with the different colours.

I got inspired this year by The Party Animals M & M turkey's. So cute. I had to make my own. These are The Party Animal's.

And here's mine, filled with my PB chocolates.  Couldn't find the mesh The Party Animal used so I improvised.  My cat got a hold of one of the heads I made and is having a blast with it!

Wishing you all a wonderfully thankful Thanksgiving

Christmas Lists

Do you make one? A Christmas list. My man doesn't really like the list idea. Oh he'll make one, but he doesn't really like them.  He says you aren't surprised when you make a list. You know what you're going to get.  True, but you don't know what on the list you're going to get. Unless of course you only have 2 things on the list.

Normally the list exchange with my family occurs on Thanksgiving.  One can take advantage of the Black Friday sales that way.  I never have trouble making a list. So much FUN stuff out there!  Yummy smelling body washes, lotions, make-up and clothes always make my list.

Party goods are always a good thing to receive too. Here's some fun stuff you may want to get the party diva on your list or add to your own :)

Sparkling sugar sprinkles to top those cupcakes with. The Bakers Confection has so many items to chose from. Cupcake liners, paper straws, treat bags etc.

Why not add something on your list for your furry friend too. A Collar Cozie so they can be stylin on their trip to the dog park. Bubble Off Plumb makes a variety for your big dog.

I have an addiction for snowmen and I LOVE Christmas so of course I have Christmas goodies on my wish list. Like these snowmen

Thanksgiving while I'm waiting for dinner to digest so I can make room for dessert I'll be pouring through the Black Friday ads making my list and checking it twice. How's your list coming along?

Dinner at the table

Fizzy Party isn't just about parties. It's about getting people together more. Not going out to eat or zapping something in the microwave and eating in front of the couch. But about cooking and inviting people over to eat at your table. A mini party itself.

This post is inspired by my step-daughter who recently had her boyfriends parent's over for dinner.  They just moved into a new apartment and instead of going out to dinner she cooked.  My step-daughter is a great cook and she's only 24.  At 24 was I even cooking? Nooo....I think my ex-husband was the one doing the cooking.

Now I wasn't at the meal so I don't know exactly what her table looked like or what recipes she used but ya get the idea.

She told me the table was set with fall place mats and a pumpkin candle centerpiece.

Bed Bath and Beyond

Better Homes and Gardens

Dinner sounded De-lish. Here's what was on the menu:

Pumpkin Pasta This was a hit. She had no left-overs.

Chicken wrapped  in Applewood smoked bacon

Steamed broccoli

Cheesy Bread. Yummy. I love bread.

And for dessert, Pumpkin chip cookies. Her dad and I did get to sample these. YUM!

Hope my step-daughters evening with her possible future in-law's has inspired you to host a dinner at your place.

Woo Hoo!! Wednesday

I LOVE Christmas lights, {squeal}. Every time I drive by a house with them on I'm like a little girl, all giddy, smiles and my heart filled with joy.  Growing up, my dad always put lights on the house. Still does :) So why is it that my house never has lights. 2 reasons, 1. My man doesn't want to do it and doesn't want to watch the electric bill go up, and 2. We have no outlets on the front of our house. I'd have to rig something through the garage with a lot of extension cords or something. One of these years I'll figure something out. Because I LOVE Christmas lights. And because my neighbors do nothing. None of them do Christmas lights, what are those.

My Woo Hoo!! Wednesday is a hats off to the people who live in these houses.  I would love to have a house all lit up like the Griswold's.

Now this is what I'm talking about. SQUEAL!!!!!!  Oh my gosh, I would LOVE for my house to look like this. Complete with my fav, The Grinch. Found on Tumblr

Is there such a thing as too many Christmas lights? Digsdigs.comhttp://www.digsdigs.com/top-10-biggest-outdoor-christmas-lights-house-decorations/

Love love love. Found on Womans Day. Living next to this neighbor would be awesome!!

I adore all the snowmen in this yard.  I have a thing for snowmen. Found on Flickr

Do you put up Christmas lights?

Turkey Cupcake Making Party

Last year I had 5 friends over the weekend before Thanksgiving and we made turkey cupcakes.  It was great, we had a good time and everyone had a pre-made dessert to bring to the Thanksgiving table. I wanted to do it again this year but it just isn't going to work out.  Oh my friends are interested and want to make them again but every one's schedules just don't permit it this year.

So I'll have a virtual Turkey Cupcake Making party instead. Here's what I'd serve this year if we were all able to get together.

Last year a friend brought apple cider and we spiked ourselves. This year I would have made Spiced Apple Hot Toddy's . This great recipe comes from Celebrations at Home.

And because we would be making these cupcakes for our families to enjoy on Thanksgiving and not for ourselves, oh who am I kidding, you know we'd have to Quality Control some :)  I'd serve some tasty fall snacks to power us through all the decorating.

Some Pumpkin Fudge from Recipe Girl
For a little healthyness, Pumpkin Pie Dip from Skinny Taste.

Here's the turkey cupcakes we made last year. So cute! We did a little assembly line. One friend did the body, moved the cupcake to the next friend who added the feathers, than on to someone else for the eyes and nose and last, the sprinkles. The assembly line worked great and we busted them all out in no time.

Everyone took a bunch. This is just one tray full.

We all had a great time and our families loved scarfing down these turkey's.  Have you're own Turkey Cupcake making party and send me some photo's. I'd love to see them :)

Craft Bazaar and Cookies

My posse and I are heading out to see my friend's booth at a craft bazaar today.  We love supporting artists and all the hard work they put into their product. My friend is the talent behind Bubble Off Plumb Productions Inc. Here's a sampling of what she'll have on display at her booth. Like what you see, pop on over to her Etsy shop and order your Christmas gifts or a little something for yourself ;)

Collar Cozies  because why should the little dogs get all the fun with their collars.  These Collar Cozies are for your Great Big Beautiful Dog (Love this phrase coined by my friend). You get 2 in a set, but wait there's more ( I sound like an infomercial don't I hee hee). The Collar Cozies are reversible! Giving you 4 different looks.  Here's a sample of one:

Have an ant problem, possibly spiders or moles. Get so frustrated you just want to stab something. Well now you can, introducing Varmint Voodoo 's .  These little guys make great stocking stuffers for that person on your list that you just don't know WHAT to get them.

Since it's the holiday's and I'm getting together with my friend's today to go to the bazaar. I made Pumpkin Snickerdoodle Cookie's last night. I found the recipe on RecipeGirl .I have to say the cookies could use more KICK. I love the sugary goodness of snickerdoodle cookies and the crisp crunch. These cookies are more cakey and don't have that sugary goodness. But I'm a sugar junkie :)  you may find these are the perfect fall cookie for you.

About 11:30 p.m. last night I thought, I can't give these cookies to my friends in just a plain Ziploc bag. My rep would be ruined! So while my honey went off to bed I stayed up and added a turkey bling to the bags.

Off to the craft bazaar I go. Let me know if you made those cookies and what you thought.

Woo Hoo!! Wednesday

I see so many beautiful Thanksgiving tablescapes out there.  Here's the thing, my family would never be able to do any of them. There's too many of us :)   It use to be there were 18-20 of us easy around a table. Squished in elbow to elbow and no room on the table for anything but food. I LOVE it!  Can't imagine a small, quiet Thanksgiving.  Now that the kids are having kids our group is a little smaller, 10 or so. The parents are having their kids and grandkids over to their own houses.  There's still no room on the table to do these great ideas, that's why it's a Woo Hoo!! Wednesday.

This gorgeous Thanksgiving table is from one of my favorite blogs Shindig Parties to Go

The candles on the table are beautiful and remind us of the reason we're all gathered together. (Country Living.com)

The simplicity of this table is touching. (Country Living.com)

The next three pictures is our Thanksgiving table. As you can see, no room for anything but food :) YUM!

Does your Thanksgiving table have room for anything but food?
