Margarita cupcakes

Just got back from a night out with girlfriends.  My very good friend is leaving us to go work in another city.  No more breaks and lunch's with her, wah.  So tonight we gave her a send off at one of her favorite food places, Mexican.  Since there was no decorating involved, I of course couldn't not do anything party related. So I made mini cupcakes to match the food choice... Margarita cupcakes!

They turned out really good. Margarita mix in the cupcake, lime juice, coarse salt  and tequila in the frosting, YUM!!

Here's a few different recipes you can try:

I gave these some consideration but I'm not a fan of beer so I went with the margarita. I might make these for my man though since he likes Corona.  Corona lime cupcakes.

Renaisance Anniversary Party

Saturday I went to a unique 20th wedding anniversary party of a good friend of mine's. I've known her since high-school and her husband for almost as long. They are still very much in love and it shows.  Sadly I could only stay at their festivities for an hour and a half. I had to leave just as the fun was beginning. I had a Duran Duran concert to go too :) My favorite band from high-school. Still love them.  The little bit of the party I did get to see was great and I look forward to seeing the evening pictures, the part of the party I missed.

The festivities were held on a great piece of property. It was the perfect setting, a large open grassy area surrounded by trees. As I drove down the country road, this shield guided my way to the fun.

The pathway to the royal court yard was lined with lanterns to be lit as the sun went down. I missed that beautiful sight.
Wishing well or was this where they got our water we drank :) ha ha

I missed out on the fire pit too. This would have been so fun. The King and Queen created this just for the party. I like the attention to detail with the covering on the logs.
The tables made me think of a tavern in medieval times.  The faux stone wall was a nice touch and made you feel more like you were in medieval times.
Drinks were served in barrels. Nice touch.
For the diet grog drinkers a more modern style barrel was used. The glasses were a party gift.

This was great entertainment and very period related. The King got a bulls eye :)

A jester played tunes and made merriment.
The Queen and I. I was fortunate enough to have a friend I could borrow this merchant outfit from. I love when parties have dress codes. The short time that I was at the party quite a few of their friends came in Renaissance clothes.  It made the party that much more fun. The Queen even had a lady in waiting. How fun
We all loved this shot.  Your grapes me lady. The King feeding his Queen :)  Such a happy couple. 20 years and still so in love.
When the King and Queen get all their pictures up I'll do a part II of the night time fun I missed.

Where did the weekend go?

Saturday I told you all I would be posting on Sunday about the fun 20th Anniversary Renaissance party I attended.  Oops! as you can see, that didn't happen.  It was a fabulous weekend but left me no time to get a post together.  Saturday was filled with baking, the anniversary party, meeting up with friends for dinner and than the Duran Duran concert, Weeeeeeeeeeeeeee. A Fabulous Saturday indeed.

Sunday I thought for sure I would have time to post about the party but my husband informed me he wanted us to go visit an ill co-worker of his in the hospital,  I had to put the caramel topping on the mini cupcakes and than off to a family get together.  Now when my family gets together we're there for 4-5 hours. My family rocks!

SO, tonight, after work, I shall show you the wonderful anniversary party my friends put together.
Happy Monday!

Woo Hoo! Wednesday

I've got costumes on my mind. I know what I want to be for Halloween, it's just a matter of finding just the right costume.   While I was surfing for my costume I came across some I LOVE but can't bring myself to buy.  If I did buy one of these it would be THE last costume I ever bought.

LOVING! this one.  $255.00 for the dress, wig, petticoat, and make-up. Available at Buy Costumes

This is a fun little number, it's only $219.99 at Buy Costumes

I was never a huge Alice in Wonderland fan but I'm liking this costume A LOT  $238.96 for the outfit, petticoat, shoes and stockings at Buy Costumes

What costume choices are you mulling around in your head?

Mommy's Litte Monster Babyshower

From Alien Baby party to Mommy's Little Monster baby shower.
This shower is brought to me by ndbexcreations. Bex didn't want a traditional shower and the title is so fitting. We all know kids can be little monster's at times.

These invitations give the first hint that this will not be your typical baby shower. If I received this in the mail I'd be intrigued and RSVP YES right away.

The theme of the shower continued from the invitation to the entry. Zombie signs and purple and green from the invitation.

The food table got a punch of colour from green bag filler and the cocktail umbrellas splattered with blood continue the zombie/little monster theme.

Party Favors!!!! Everyone loves those. The bags were filled with yummy candies.

You gotta love this cake.  I think this is the most unique baby shower cake I have seen.

If you're having a baby shower in October, I hope this gave you some ideas.
Thank you Bex for sharing your most unique baby shower with us :)

Alien Baby Party

****WARNING!!!! A sense of humor is needed to view this party :) *****

Today I had a very unique party. It was a birthday party of sorts, for my Alien Baby.  I should explain, 7 years ago I had a fibroid that gave me morning sickness, grew pretty quickly and gave me a baby bump. My friend dubbed it The Alien Baby.  We've joked about how funny it would be to have a party for Alien Baby. Only took me 7 years to actually throw the party. The party is a spoof on surgery and aliens. When guests asked what they could bring to the party I replied, a sense of humor.

The humor started with the invitations, made by me. A uterus being abducted by an alien spaceship.

Ooo, a hostess gift :) I have the greatest friends. It even matches the theme, stars for space because aliens live in space and green because we ALL know aliens are green.

One of the party favors, everyone got their own Alien Baby from Rhode Island Novelty.

The special party drink was Alien Secretion :) I told you you had to have a sense of humor. 1 part pineapple juice, 1 part Midori and 1 part rum. Not only was the colour perfect but it was pretty tasty too.

I made the garland out of felt. Notice the aliens looming above.

We had to have pizza for lunch because they're flying saucers.

My friends are great. The invitation said, attire: lab coats, scrubs, green or silver. I think they nailed it! LOVE the alien costume.

Every alien party has to have the infamous Area 51.

Just like you see in the movies where people break into the secret government warehouse and at the end of the room they see something hidden behind plastic, my guests experienced that in my Area 51. As you parted the plastic curtain (table clothes) the alien was revealed. The blue tablecloth represented the surgery table.

For dessert I made cake pops which turned out pretty tasty.  The key is to put just enough frosting in the cake crumbs so they stick together. Too much frosting and these little aliens would be SWEET! I think this one looks like Invader Zim. There were more but this was the lone survivor. I took a Styrofoam ring and glittered it up to symbolize a spaceship.

Yummy alien cupcakes from the book Hello Cupcake . Silver wrappers so the aliens can all be sitting in their own spaceships and the tray represents the surgeons tray in the operating room.

PARTY FAVORS! I put them on the surgeons tray (cookie sheet). I made these felt bags, inspired by I Heart Guts , a great shop.

The party favors included alien eggs from Rhode Island Novelty and my homemade chocolate peanut butter spaceships.

Hope you had fun and snickered a little as you visited The Alien Baby party.
